Review ~ Ripped by Shelly Dickson Carr

For some reason I have always found the history of Jack the Ripper fascinating. I’ve read about all the victims and would love to solve the mystery of who he really was. The entire story frightens and thrills me.
So when i saw this book I thought this could be awesome.
WOW was I wrong.
My Review ~
I don’t mind the story but I was really looking for a retelling of the story with a slight twist but the same outcome. Or a modern day “swing” to it. I choose to make this a very quick review cause in all honesty I just couldn’t finish it. For fiction about history it was to unbelievable.
So here is my review. I noticed some other reviews of people who actually liked it so I’m guessing there not a fan of this serial killer as I am (and by fan I mean….I’m not 100% sure what I actually mean but anyway) so they must have been able to Enjoy the “STORY” better then me…..

I’m all for taking a fantasy and twisting it into something else, But not when it’s a real story. The idea was good but It would have worked better if it was set back in London in 1888 rather then going back to the past. If you’re that scared of Madame Tussauds house of horrors how is it not scary to actually be back in time with the real Jack the Ripper. For me it just didn’t work. Even the character placement didn’t work. I really wanted to like it……I just didn’t 🙁

If you do read this book I would love to know why you liked it cause I’d be willing to give it another go…maybe…..

  1. Hey, I'm a new follower! Thank you so much for following my blog, too! I'm sorry you didn't like the book. I usually don't choose to read anything to do with Jack the Ripper, I think because of the movie with Johnny Depp and Heather Graham (?). I didn't think the movie was all that great, lol, even though I totally love Johnny. 😀

    • No Problem!!!! I'm glad you are following me. Thank you!!!! Yes that was the movie and I didn't like it either lol. I do like the History of Jack but all the remakes just don't really do the story justice since the real life events are quite the story in itself 🙂 Have a great day!!!!
