About the Author

anonpicChristine studied creative writing at Baldwin Wallace Collage and Cleveland State University. Her  short stories have been finalists for Perigee Publication for the Arts and The Fish Short Story Prize.

Christine, who lives with her husband of thirty-nine years,  is a native of Columbia Station just south of Cleveland Ohio. Columbia Station was mostly farmland, and growing up she worked on the family’s five-acre farm. She’ll tell you of ninety-degree days,  how she picked untamed blackberries behind their woods. Although the heat was a nuisance, badly scratched were worth it because blackberries sold for a whole quarter a quart.

Debra Hamilton confronts the fear of inheriting mental illness when her husband moves her into a hundred-year-old farmhouse on fifty-three acres of blacklisted real estate property. Floorboards creak when she’s alone. Objects appear and disappear. Neighbors insinuate the house is haunted but memories of her mother’s schizophrenia make her wonder. Julie, a neighbor who befriends Debra, faces her own fears when a stalker starts sending perverted anonymous letters that cause a rift in Julie’s unstable marriage. Their plots merge as their friendship grows to create a rich and satisfying story.

“Intelligence, as well as emotion, drives this novel. A taut thriller rich with lurid details yet also an evocation of vividly real and compelling characters.” –Mark Spencer, author of A Haunted Love Story, The Weary Motel, The Masked Demon, and Trespassers.

In the mystery thriller Anonymous, a young woman confronts the fear of inheriting mental illness when her husband moves her into a hundred-year-old farmhouse where neighbors insinuate it’s haunted. EXCERPT: “Debra’s hands were small, delicate, the kind of hands that could fit inside a mayonnaise jar. She had bitten her fingernails down to the quick; so she had picked at her cuticles and had bitten them, too, tearing fine strips of skin. She wanted so badly to stop. It was ugly. It hurt. But she would bite them any way.”

Chatting with the Author

Welcome to my blog…

What is the strangest thing you believed as a child?

Witches with warts – There were rats in the attic where I lived as a child, and I thought the sounds in the dark were from a witch. I believed her claw-like hand was reaching from under my bed to scratch my face so I would look like her.

What are the top three qualities that draw you to someone new?

I love someone who laughs easily, who always has something nice to say about someone else, someone who tends to shoulder-bump on a walk.

What is one item you can not live without?

Toilet paper – I can imagine living in a third-world country where all you have are leaves.

What season do you prefer?Why?

I love spring. Here in Ohio, by the great lakes, the skies are a new definition of gray. I love the smell of fresh picked lilacs and daffodils. I have them all over the house.

How many days could you last in solitary confinement?

None. I love the company of others, as long as they misbehave….

Thank you so much for chatting with me Christine 🙂
