Back to normal but a little behind…and then the shit hit the fan! ~ WIR & SP

Off the Blog:

I was doing good this week. Things were going awesome. My daughters room is a disaster but I figured I have all next week to clean it so this weekend I can just relax and get some stuff organized and finish my project that I have been working on, plus I can do a bunch of blogging. I am still a little behind on stuff but no worries….THEN THE SHIT HIT THE FAN!

Saturday morning I had a mental break and had a temper tantrum. Like a really dramatic one but I was just so annoyed i couldn’t find something and I ripped all the cabinets in the bedroom apart, drawers and shelfs. I did eventually find what I was looking for but at this point I figured I need to get all that stuff cleaned out anyway so I would just start once I got my daughter and husband off to cheerleading for a game. Apparently this was going to be one of those days that just never recovers. While I was putting my daughters hair in a pony tale I thought I saw something in her hair. I go to look and it’s a little bug. Ok so it flew in her hair no biggie….NOPE there was another one….then another and now I realized OMG I think she has LICE! I googled a lot on Saturday and yup it was LICE! Well! She was crying, I was freaking out and now the entire house had to be stripped of all bedding in all the rooms, blankets and stuffed animals. Remember I tore apart the closets, drawers and cabinets…yay! that was still all over the bed room. SO now I had to send my husband to the store to go get LICE stuff and spend 4 hours stripping her hair. I found a place that is about 20 minutes from us that does LICE removal and they are taking us today at 9:30 am. So I can get my hair treated also. Once I stripped her hair, blew dried it to kill the ick and also comb it. I put it in a braid and took a shower myself…a HOT shower. Now I have to vacuum the floor but first I need to pick up all the clothes. It was like the entire house exploded. I don’t know how I got through it without having a glass of wine or a shot of tequila. I realize I was being so dramatic today but this type of thing is not my thing, lol. This freaks me out and I can’t deal at all. I wanted to burn the house down and start over. On the plus side my melt down might has scared my son enough to clean his entire room, he even vacuumed it…he never does that. 🙂

So today I might not be around until later while myself and my daughter get our hair treated and not sure how long that will take. I was trying so hard to make this post not dramatic and it’s like the gods are just so against me getting stuff done and not going completely insane.

Blogging News and Updates:

I am behind…obviously but I did do a bunch of posts on Friday so I hope to get some more done this week. Next weekend I have a few things to do around the house on the weekend but Friday I plan to blog all day again while the kids are at school. I am hoping that next weeks update will be a short and happy one! 🙂

Bloggiesta starts this week and I will be doing one Twitter party with them. Not sure the date year and the sign up post isn’t up. I am going to try and spend a day working on blog stuff during Bloggiesta but a change in plans gives me limited time.  September 21st to 24th. Want to help? Sign Up HERE

I plan to do Can you read a series in a Month? again. I might have sign ups for that up soon, I am thinking of doing it for November…maybe.

Blog Ahead starts on October 1st. I plan to join that also this year so I can get as ahead as possible. With Berls it’s easier to fill up space but it also helps with doing some fun original stuff that I haven’t been able to do in a while because I was blogging alone. So If you are interested you can sign up for Blog Ahead HERE

Last Week on the Blog:

What you might see this week:

  • Bloggiesta Goal Post

Bookish News and What I grabbed

I didn’t grab anything this week, Warcross by Marie Lu came out but I want to wait to grab that when There’s Someone inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins comes out. I figured I would purchase them together. I also want to get An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson I believe that comes out on September 26th the same as Stephanie Perkins books so I need to save some money. So I was a good girl and stayed out of trouble 🙂 I probably wont next week but you never know!

  1. Dramatic away. I think lice is in the top ten worst nightmares of any parent with school age kids. I get the shivers just thinking about it. Glad you’ve found a place to treat her hair and hopefully it will be somewhat relaxing? I can sympathize with the tantrum. I haven’t had one yet but I can feel it coming. I tend to get weepy and self-pitying though which is no fun for anyone. Have a much better week!

    • They were able to get it out of her hair and I had it also plus my son but I shaved his head. It was an expensive week and I was seriously dramatic but I just couldn’t even deal!

  2. Oh my god… that day! Jesus… so sorry, honestly, sounds like nightmare stuff 😀 you know you should tell your daughter’s teacher though? Because she probably caught it from a kid in her class. All the kids need to be checked, or she just might have it again.. that’s how this icky stuff works :/
Glad you got it all fixed up in the end though!
In other news, I think Odd&True is a real steal 🙂
    Have a great week!

    • I told everyone that she and I were in contact with in the last 4 weeks. It actually takes time for them to appear. I told her nurse at school so she can check the other kids because I will not be getting that again 🙂

  3. I’m sorry, but I have to laugh at the mental image – not to mention you scaring Ryan into cleaning and vacuuming 😉 Don’t worry – lice happens. Hell, I’m in constant fear of it thanks to being a Kinder teacher.

Hope this week goes smoother for you than this weekend did 😉 HUGS

  4. Don’t sweat it, it happens. My niece got it from school, it sucks but not much you can do. And lol about your son, he’s like I don’t want em ack where’s the vacuum lol? Love that! TBH I would have freaked out more and shaved their head, then mine probably.

I got Warcross and I’m looking forward to the Perkins one too! Hope it’s scary as $%^&!

  5. I saw your post on Facebook. It is true what you say about other parents, if they would notify the school then everyone would be aware of the lice. I hope you and your daughter are feeling better about it and you get to relax with a good book and some wine lol. I hope you have a good week!

  6. Omigosh, Michelle, what a nightmare! We had to do lice treatments on my daughter once, too, as I recall. Luckily she was the only one. I didn’t actually see anything on her — there were several children in her class with lice, so they had everyone in her class do treatment to stop the cycle. It’s pretty common for kids to get it at school, I gather. But such a pain to treat, with the head treatments and all the washing of clothes and linens and stuffed animals. You have my sympathies! I hope you got them all, and this will soon be behind you. Meanwhile, take a deep breath and find yourself some time to sit down with a nice relaxing book and a big cup of tea. (Or a glass of wine.)

  7. That’s about how I felt each time my cousin brought home lice. It was always the same one over and over…every three months like clockwork. Good thing they FINALLY moved out of our house. I was so fed up with her – she was in middle school! Round up all the stuffed animals, seal them in trash bags, and set them out for 2 weeks.

I also hate when I can’t find something, which is more common now that I don’t have a desk at home anymore. Since I moved my room around at school, I’m constantly reaching for my desk drawer that’s no longer there!

  8. Awe, I remember those days. Both of kids had it at the same time, and it was awful. I just wanted to throw everything in my house away and get all new things. It is so hard to get rid of.
I feel that I stay behind on my blog and at home. I really need to do some rearranging and reorganizing, but then I see a book and I decide not to. That might be why I stay so behind. Just don’t tell my husband. lol…

  9. Oh lice is the WORST!!!!! I remember when I was very young I got it and my mom lost her shit!!! She would have put your panic to shame! Then, as a teacher, I have seen WAY more lice cases than I ever wanted to. Glad you found a place that was able to give you info and assuage your fears.
Hope this week is better and bug free!

  10. I read no dramatics in your post at all.. I would have done the same thing. *hugs* Honestly!! It’s okay to be a mom! But don’t forget to tell the school. Hopefully they have a protocol to NOT mention the child’s name. Because you KNOW she didn’t pick it up from your house!! Where does it even start?

And here’s to always being behind… in our own heads!! Have a better week next week!!!

    • Lol, she’s had it about 3 weeks and apparently I have it for about a week. Not even sure where she got it. I’m calmer now that I went to the place to have us checked and they had so much info for me. I over panicked but it’s normal and now I know more info so I’m better 🙂

*clinks glasses* cheers to being behind! 😉
