The title tells it all. I’m Bubbly, I’m Berls, and I’m about to Babble about something! I hope you’ll babble along with me π
Today Bubbly Berls is Babbling about: Kindle Highlighting
I’m about to really babble about something serious UNIMPORTANT y’all. It’s just that I’m curious. So be forewarned. This is probably not going to be at all edifying!
Okay, so you know how you’re minding your own business, reading along in your Kindle and then all of a sudden you reach this kind of faded, dotted underline, with a note? It says “532 highlighters” or some other big number. Why do I need to know that others highlighted a passage?!
Y’all this drives me crazy! Suddenly I think I’ve missed something. Why did so many people highlight this? Is it important? No lie- I have highlighted pieces before because so many people before me have highlighted it and I’m like, “I guess I should.” LOL! I’ve just been peer pressured into highlighting something I possibly care nothing about! What? Please tell me I’m not alone in this.
So, yeah, I can easily find all the crap that other people have highlighted… but can I find what I highlighted? Y’all unless I’ve written a note to go along with that highlight, I can NOT find it! Yeah, I’m sure there’s a million FAQs and tutorials out there that will tell me how. That’s not the point. Why is it so hard?!
So I have issues with my Kindle highlighting. It’s peer pressuring me into highlighting stuff I don’t want to and hiding the stuff I care about. :/ The struggle is real!
OMG. I’m seriously cracking up here. You are too cute. I am with you – though, on that highlight thing. Luckily a read a lot of ARCs, so it’s not an option on those. But I do sometimes question why people highlight certain things. And yes, you can turn it off in the settings.
Lol yeah I was like this is dumb, but it’s bugging me so much, I need to post about it. And hey, at least I found out I can turn it off π
LMAO π OMG, I am laughing so hard right now because I know just what you mean. Especially in hugely popular books where there’s a LOT of highlighting going on. It’s like, 987 people have highlighted this! And suddenly I’m wondering why it’s vast importance didn’t strike me enough to want to highlight it, too? Did I miss something? Did I not understand its importance? LOL I’m just howling at you being “peer pressured” into highlighting, though. OMG, that is priceless. π
Lol! Well that’s exactly what it is, peer pressure π because I totally end up highlighting things I didn’t care about hahaha
I am not a fan of it either and I try to make sense of why they highlighted it because a lot of the time it don’t make sense to highlight it…lol. It’s some off the wall thing they highlight.
Yes! I’m like, wth did I just miss? Annoying!
You are not alone;)
I’ve felt peer pressured at times to add those highlights but am getting better.
Lol I’m loving how many people feel the same way. I’m not as neurotic as I thought… Right?!
OMG! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who can’t find my highlighted stuff. I’ll highlight something because I think I’ll do a fancy review and include quotes and everything and then I can’t find it again and say “screw it.” I also look at the highlight notes and think “What am I missing? Why did others highlight that?”
Thank you! It’s like I can find all the shit other people highlighted, but not what I did! I did recently learn that things I highlight are saved for me in goodreads. So I can’t find them on my kindle, but I can sort of find them now.
You can turn that off. I use the highlight feature a lot when I read books (I wish it was easier to do on audios). I love to include little quotes from books in my reviews (especially funny ones). I highlight things that I might want to include as I’m reading and then email them to me to copy and paste into my reviews. I have looked at other people’s highlights if I go through a book and don’t highlight anything on my own to see if it is something I might want to include in my review, but rarely use other’s highlights. I just don’t tend to like them as much.
See I didn’t know you can turn that off. I do like to highlight, especially since I can than go into goodreads and copy what I highlighted. But I have yet to think, “man I’m glad I know 79 people highlighted that!” lol
I turned it off on my kindle cause it drove me nuts too. I mean why did I not find it important and they did.
Hahaha exactly! How did you turn it off?!
