DNF #Review ~ Wings of the Walker (The Walker #1) by Coralee June

Sigh! I have heard such great things about this series, I was so excited that it won until I realized that it was YA. I love young adult but not in my reverse harem. Like not even a little bit, that wasn’t the only reason I didn’t like it.

  • I was so lost on the world. Like it wasn’t really explained. It was like the place Ashleigh was working for reminded me of a Victorian manor but in my head it was empty because no details are given about it. When they venture out I had no idea what was going on, they got into a car and it had skyscrapers. The worlds didn’t mesh well and it totally confused me.
  • What is a Walker? NO FREAKIN idea, they never explained what it was. It was like the author might have known but we didn’t. Here is what I got from it, people that are immune to the virus…wouldn’t that mean everyone else is immune too? The Walkers were the workers and treated like crap but I don’t know why.
  • Josiah was an ASSHOLE! I didn’t like him at all. All Ashleigh did was pine over it, it was immature and irritating.
  • Cyler didn’t make any sense. I don’t know if I like him or not, he seemed confused by the walker thing, probably wasn’t explained to him either, and the attraction to Ashleigh and his advances made it seem like he knew her before he got there. It just didn’t make sense to me.

I honestly didn’t find anything I liked about this book so at 40% I put it down. I love YA Fantasy or even Post apocalypse but not in my reverse harem. I like my RH, naughty with a great story and naughty (did I mention that?). This book was just not for me. I suggest you try it yourself if you want because you might not have issues with what I did or maybe I just didn’t get it like others did because it really does have a lot of people raving about it.

  1. I am sorry to hear this one didn’t work for you. I did realize this was YA, which I don’t mind, but something about the blurb didn’t quite appeal to me. if you want to try out a YA RH series, I would recommend Siobhan Davis’ Alinthia series which has some steam as it’s more upper YA.

I can see why you DNF’d this one, it does sound quite confusing. I prefer it if the world comes alive and I understand how things work there. I am not a fan of asshole characters either. I hope your next book is a better one.

  2. Oh no!!! I’m so sorry you didn’t like this one! You know how much I loved it (which is weird, cause I don’t really like YA).

  3. I’m sorry it didn’t work well for you. I have to be VERY careful about YA. As long as you keep reading! Anne – Books of My Heart
