I am honored to have on my blog today
Bronwyn Elsmore
and her book Every Five Minutes
About the Author
When Bronwyn was about ten, she wrote to children’s Author Enid Blyton and told her she was going to be a writer too. She kept to her plan and that has been her occupation since – she admits that’s a fair while now. Over that time she has been an advertising copywriter, freelancer, contract writer, editor, education writer, playwright, writing mentor and tutor, and an academic writer during her years as an academic.
Of the genres she has written – fiction, non-fiction, radio stories, articles, humor, books, short stories, plays, novels – she now most enjoys writing fiction.Short stories have always been a favourite, but currently she is having a renewed love affair with the form of the novel.
If Bronwyn is not at her keyboard in Auckland, the stunning New Zealand ‘City of Sails’, she’s likely to be feeding her own or stray cats, or adding to the number of countries visited – 64 to date. When seen gazing in an abstract way she’ll either be plotting the next script or trying to calculate how many million words she has produced over her career.
On her book Every Five Minutes, Bronwyn tells how it came about –
I don’t want this to sound spooky, because no doubt there was something lurking in my subconscious that pushed it along.I was working on another novel when, one morning in the shower, the idea came to me – complete with the unusual format, the title, main character, point of view, and first paragraphs. It was so clear to me that I knew I should get onto the writing right away – which I did that morning.

About the Book
Every Five Minutes
by Bronwyn Elsmore
ebook
Published October 1st 2012 by Flaxroots Productions (first published January 9th 2012)
Gina, if that is her real name, wakes to an autumn morning and, against her better judgement, selects a light dress to wear to work. Deliberately, she misses the bus and walks into the city, then turns and walks back home. This is not a day for work. Tomorrow, in her navy pantsuit, she will be there. Today she will spend with a white dog and a remarkable man.
Every Five Minutes is also about the colour cornflower blue, beaches, parks, city streets, exotic places, coffee, flowers, polished stones, a unicorn and a swan, words, theatre, movies, music, and love. But most of all it’s about Gina, the dog, and the man.
