Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi have never let me down, and Accidental Sire was no exception. Not my favorite, but total fun.
What Worked:
- Seeing everyone from Half-Moon Hollow again. I swear, every time I pick up one of these books, I feel like I’m at the best reunion ever π
- The snark and quirky characters. I wish I knew this many people who had the whit these characters do! Meagan is a great addition to the group and I just loved watching her insert foot in mouth with Jane… repeatedly.
- The James Marsters mention. I’m a die hard Buffy fan, so that was pretty great
- I loved seeing more of Georgi. I mean she’s creeptastic and I <3 her!
- I’m really excited for the avenues opened up for future books by the strangeness of Ben and Meagan!
- Amanda Ronconi’s narration – always a treat!
What Didn’t Work:
- For smart people, they really missed some very obvious signs as to who was up to no good. It was kinda disappointing that they were duped.
I just love picking up these books, filled with lots of snark and lol moments. It was just so fun to be with the gang again π

I’m happy this was a good listen for the most part. I can see what you’re saying about the “smart” people being duped though. It does sound like fun though and I know how much you enjoy Ronconi. π Someday I’ll get back to MHarper.
It’s a good thing I don’t read it for the mystery, or that would have been a serious disappointment. But since it’s about the characters, humor and Ronconi, I’m happy π
I really loved this book too. I completely agree that I saw how the bad guy was, but that’s okay with this series. I read Molly Harper for the fun and one liners, which she nailed, as always. Great review.
So so true – it’s not about the mystery. It’s about the characters and great fun π
This sounds like such an interesting series! I just dipped my toes into urban fantasy this year when I read The Others series by Anne Bishop. Absolutely LOVED it! Maybe I should give this one a try, too. Must be a hit if you’re still with it after six books. π
It is, but it’s more pnr than UF. Tons of humor and great characters. Can’t recommend enough and especially on audio π
