WIR vectorstock_43821-1-1Week in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba at the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Real Life & Blog News:

So with every happy story comes a tragedy, on Tuesday we had to say goodbye to Flyra. Yes, after all that craziness, she up and died on us. I had a feeling she would since the shell she was in was just way to big. My heart broke for my daughter but like all kids she bounced back rather quickly and now wants a hamster. I will warn you all now, Hermit Crabs are not easy to take care of and after this experience I think I will be happy to have a house full of hamsters.

On the Blog, nothing that interesting, just a lot more organizing and setting up some more Top Ten lists. I am a HUGE Sucker for lists and this one was fun to do so I have quite a few I can’t wait to share with you all. Lots about movies & video games but I am working on a few more, so excited about this feature and hope you all enjoyed the first one.

I just wanted to share this post just in case you missed it, I did a New App Review for a Scary but Fun App, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, if you have a chance please stop by and check it out. I did the review with my kids πŸ™‚

  1. I’m sorry about Flyra…but laughed over the resilience of your daughter. A hamster, huh? Just make sure not to keep it in the bedroom. They don’t sleep at night. πŸ˜‰ And *high five* for NOT one-clicking/requesting any books this week. I wish I could exercise that much willpower. LOL Thanks for sharing the random pic – your kids are adorable!

  2. Sorry to hear about Flyra. I agree Hermit Crabs are hard to look after especially with how fragile they are. We lost ours as well. The died on us when the weather started to warm up. I just don’t get it, they’re supposed to like the heat, strange.
Yay for no books this week *high five*.
Hope your week is a good one. πŸ™‚

  3. We’ve had cats, dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits when I was a kid, my sister even had a rooster who used to chase the mailman ! No Hermit crab, though. Your kids are lovely, they look so fun and full of life πŸ™‚ Yay for the new book ban, you’re resisting ! I don’t know any of the books you’re reading, but their covers are good. Enjoy and have a great week !

  4. I’ve just realized that I scheduled the completely wrong life of a blogger topic for Thursday. For some reason I thought it wad concerts and I spent a while writing it. Crapola. I might just post it anyway lol!!

Sorry about the crab, a hamster just might be easier though πŸ™‚ I’m happy with just my Buffy! I can’t handle bunches of pets.

  5. Your kids are so cute, Michelle! I’m sorry about your hermit crab, but hamsters are more my speed – I like cute and furry. (Actually, cats are my pet of choice. We have two.) And way to go with staying away from NetGalley and Edelweiss and all! I’m not quite that disciplined – though I’m getting better. Only two review books this week, and one of those I was asked to do and didn’t want to say no.

  6. Oh to bad about the hermit crab. FYI on the hamsters if you get a boy and a girl and have babies..they some times eat there young. πŸ™ So be careful..we use to have them when I was growing up and it was kind of gross. πŸ™‚

Good for you for not grabbing up anything..I did pretty good this week as I only got a few! πŸ™‚ I really need to stop and catch up. My problem is when I go to post a review on netgalley I see all the pretties. πŸ™‚

  7. Oh I’m sorry about your daughter’s hermit crab. We had hamsters for awhile and I don’t remember them being to difficult to take care of other than cleaning out the cage which I imagine you already have to do. Congratulations on not getting any books this week! I really need to take a month off but I just can’t seem too! I love lists so look forward to seeing what you’ve got scheduled. Have a great week!

  8. I am sorry to hear about Flyra, especially after all you went through with her last week. It’s so hard when a pet dies, Although hamsters are cute as well and probably easier to care for.

I liked your top ten list and am looking forward to more of them :). And yay for doing a picture of the week, I always like sharing a picture each week on my blog and it gives me an excuse to include a picture in my sunday post ;).

I hope you have a great week!

    • Thank you, she was just to quiet and never really moved around anymore even with all the shells she stayed in the worst one for her. Oh well, I really tried just wasn’t meant to be I guess πŸ™

Hamsters are a lot easier and I think it would be fun for the kids, I got my first hamster when I was 10 I think.

I say your pictures and a few other posts and thought why not. I love taking pictures of my kids and the pets, I might do more pictures on instagram so I can share more.

Sorry to hear about Flyra! πŸ™ Hamsters are short-lived and great escape artists but lots of fun.

I’m impressed that you resisted NetGalley, Edelweiss, and Amazon; good for you!

    Have a good week. πŸ™‚

  10. Sorry to hear about Flyra but it sounds like your daughter took it well. We also had a hamster and that was an interesting experience for us. It some how got out of its cage while we were away for the day and we couldn’t find it. Eventually she came out of her hiding spot but it was stressful looking for her. Hopefully nothing crazy like that happens to you!

I might steal your picture of the week idea lol. I tried to use Instagram for the picture of the day challenges but since I mainly have ebooks it was hard to participate. That’s another site I need to be more active on lol.

    Have a great week!

  11. Sorry to hear about Flyra, hope the hamster part goes better! I would think that crabs would be hard, I think you did pretty good considering! I hope Flunked was good, it looks fun. I like Top Ten lists too, although I don’t do those posts much because I never plan ahead far enough to do them. I liked your Apps one though, so looking forward to more. Have a great weekend!

    • I had hamsters when I was younger and they don’t live that long but they are a very good pet to teach the kids how to take care of something. They love taking care of the cat and dog but I think a hamster would be a good learning experience for them.

The Top Ten was fun to do but a lot of research and work however I have a bunch of lists ready to go just need to set them up. My son loves the App review! Thanks for stopping by to check them out.

  12. I’ve been avoiding buying and requesting books until I catch up too, but I still seem to acquire a few every week. I went to the library this week and I also got books from authors/publishers.

I have The Madman’s Daughter from the library so I’ll have to come back for your review after I read it (and write my review!). It’s due back soon, I think.

  13. Sorry Flyra didn’t make it Michelle. But hamsters are good, right? Nice and cute and fluffy πŸ™‚ I’m sure both your kids would enjoy having a couple.
I haven’t been around much this week, busy, busy and next week will be more of the same. I just need to get my groove on between studying and teaching, and the family and all that.
Have a great week ahead, Michelle. Happy reading.

    • Hamsters are a LOT better, I have had about 6 in my life, super cute and fluffy and they do nip but if you get them young enough they will get use to you better. They are much easier to take care of.

Yes I noticed you have been a bit MIA, I totally understand, sometimes real life does that but you once things settle down you will be back in a good routine πŸ™‚ We all have those crazy times, just makes life more interesting.

  14. Your children are adorable! I love to play with kids they are just such a joy to be around. I personally I love to babysit them (and ship them back to the rents!). My younger brother once had a hermit crab as a pet – of course I did the taking care of said hermit because my brother is a neglectful pet owner! They are such sensitive buggers – any little thing wrong with the habitat could make them sick. I definitely suggest hamsters. Plus I saw a cute one in a hamster on FB and now I’m thinking thinking of renting Stuart Little . . . OMG sorry for this random ass comment I just had chocolate and it’s 2 am . . . yeah I’ma go now, LOL

    • Thank you! I do love having them around, they are so much fun. We play a lot together, they are very goofy kids.
Yes they are very sensitive to care for and as much as I think they are interesting to watch I rather do it at someones elses house because this one is officially a no hermit crab zone from now on but 3 still have 3 left. so after them.
When i was younger I had about 6 hamster so they are easier to care for but they just don’t live that long, full life span is 2 years maybe 3 but still a lot better than me checking every morning to see if they are alive.
