WIR&TSP

Week in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba at the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Real Life & Blog News:

Today in the US it’s Father’s Day, So happy Father’s Day to all the awesome dads with awesome kids and flurry kids too. I hope you all have a great day!

This week has been a little crazy, Ryan went back to school and he has been doing very good, however, he is a little over emotional and we aren’t sure why. He seems to be a bit depressed, so I have an appointment with the therapist next week and we will talk to her about it so she can talk to him. It might be a side effect from one of the meds he is on but it will just take time. Monday is the last day of school for both of them so good luck mom she stays with them during the summer but she is very good with them, she should have been a teacher with all her arts and crafts skills. When they were little she would make Indian hats and paper bag masks. I am just hoping Ryan wont give her to much trouble and they enjoy time outside.

I am very behind on my review writing but I spent a lot of time on Friday writing them with a new layout. I have seen a few other people do a list of things they liked and didn’t like about a book and since I technically make notes with single sentences I figured why not write my reviews they same way I write my notes. So my new review layout will be a paragraph of why I read the book, a few points about what I liked or didn’t like and an in closing paragraph. It made writing the review super easy and fun.

Today I have family coming over as I cook a nice Italian Sunday Dinner with all the fixins.

  1. I hope Ryan feels better and the kids have a great time with your Mom. I can’t wait to see your new review format. I’ve written some reviews with a list of what I liked and didn’t like which makes it a lot easier to write up. Your Italian meal sounds really good and I hope you had a great time with your family. Have a great week!

  2. Hope Ryan is feeling better soon, he’s got a lot to deal with. My mum was always so wonderful with my son. Anthony had such a close bond with her and he never felt ‘different’ to other kids, if you know what I mean. It’s sometimes harder at home with so many appointments and therapy etc.
Have a good week and happy reading … I love the cover of Unlikely Allies

  3. It’s good to switch up the layouts now and again. I’ve started using the book blurb on a few occasions lately rather than summarising it for myself – particularly if I’m time poor or I’m struggling to work out what I want to say (without giving too much away etc).

  4. I hope Ryan is doing okay and the therapy session helps and that he and his sister have a lot of fun at their grandmas. Hope you get in some read and reviewing time! All these COYER ladies already finishing books and I have just gotten started…lol. Enjoy your reads!
    Have a great week!

Jason and Harley look like they are having fun together. πŸ˜€

I hope Ryan can talk to the therapist and work on getting his depression under control.Poor guy has a lot to deal with but he’s got you and all of his family supporting him so he’s lucky. Hopefully he and his sister have fun with your mom.

I’m reading two books right now, neither of which count for COYER, but soon! I have a big pile of books to get to. I’m still kinda hoping the reviews will write themselves. πŸ˜€

    • Little Jason is very happy to have another villain to share secrets with πŸ™‚

He has and this is just a bump, I realized that it might be one of his meds is making him tired so instead of napping he’s just getting super cranky. Going to try and see if, during the summer, he will take a nap for a little while because it seemed to help today.

I haven’t read all weekend so I am not doing so good myself. Wouldn’t it be nice if they would write themselves πŸ™‚

  6. I have never seen Jason look so adorable! Fun pic! So glad Ryan is home and hopefully the emotions can balance out easily. You guys have already been through so much! That’s awesome that your mom does such a fantastic job with them during the summer. I was very close to my grandmother growing up and it’s really always just been a special bond. Have a great week!

    • Thank you Katherine πŸ™‚ I am hoping he will get a handle of it with some help. He have a lot of outside support for him, just waiting on approval from the state. I love that she is able to watch them and love them like I do. She is a great gram and the kids and dog adore her. She is very creative so it will be a fun summer for them. πŸ™‚

  7. Hi Girl!!!! How the heck are ya?!?! First – thinking of Ryan! My own Jake is now worrying about his daddy fighting bad guys with guns. We took him to see Inside/Out and he couldn’t quite process where and when emotions fit into life. A bit too confusing (and boring!) for him. Homeschool again next year, though! All A’s and one B+ this last half so when he has to try, he’ll do it.

I love the new look! I went to Tweak Me, too and I’ve been customizing it all week. I love all the CSS I can do in the background! FUN!! I’m not even close to done. And talk about behind on reviews – I have over 50 to write!! Thank God for UBB!!

Enough about me… What are those HarleyQuinn and Jason thingies?? They are adorable but what do they do? What cords are they on? I love them!!

BTW – we talked at RAGT in the blogger room about review layout and format. Basically, if you don’t change it often you’ll get bored. Fact is, you’ll always end up copying someone else’s format, which I worry about. But there are only so many things you can do with a review. Don’t sweat it and good luck!!

    • *tackle hug* WELCOME BACK! I am so happy you are back to blogging, I missed you! I stalked your blog for a while and was sad you weren’t there but I am very happy you are back.

Ryan has had some troubles this year and a short stay (3 weeks) at the hospital with a med adjustment he is doing good. We still have a lot to do with him to get him to be ok with social and everyday interactions and his angry outburst but we will get there…Eventually.
They are called Scalers, they just hang on cords. They have no purpose other than to be cute and adorable and keep you company. I have them on my mouse cord and I have a HUGE Jason (ill post picture next week or you can see him on my instagram account) on the cable that charges my laptop. We found them at Toys R Us and I just couldn’t say no to little Jason, he’s my friend πŸ™‚

Yes it does get boring and I have been having a hard time writing them lately and since I make lists anyway and have seen people do it in mini reviews, I figured why not try it myself. So for now I will see how it works, it might be just the thing I need to get my butt writing those reviews πŸ™‚

      WELCOME BACK AGAIN!!! *hug*

  8. I am sorry to hear that Ryan still has a bit of emotional trouble, I hope the summer vacation is good for him. And I hope he enjoys his time with your mom, your mom sounds like a very creative person.

I am looking forward to your new review layout. I’ve seen a few bloggers use the list type layout for their reviews. I like lists so it’s nice seeing those type of layouts for reviews. I never made notes, but I have a certain list of topics which I always adress in my reviews, which works for me.

I am so excited that Coyer has started! I am already working on my goals a bit and it so fun to see everyone being busy with coyer and talking about what they are reading. I am still so happy I decided to join last year summer as it’s my favourite reading challenge now and it’s such a lovely group of bloggers that participate.

I hope you have a great week and enjoy your new books!

    • Me too, but it is all part of what we expected however this just seems intense and I want to make sure it’s a normal thing and not a side effect to the meds.

I have been in a bit of a review slump but I think this will work. If it’s really late at night when I finish a book the next day I write a list of things about the books it was like, duh! Why not write the review like that, I have seen some do mini reviews like that but since I have shortened my reviews a lot this is perfect for me and I LOVE A LIST! πŸ™‚

I am too, the group is awesome such a bunch of great girls to talk to. I never participate in any other challenge before COYER so it’s my favorite too πŸ™‚ LOL

  9. I hope Ryan will be OK and have fun with your mom πŸ™‚ I’ve just checked the blurb of Killer, it looks absolutely catchy, can’t wait to read what you think of it in your new review format ! I recently changed the way I present the books I review, but I can’t seem to be able to write them according to a plan, they always write themselves out of their own volition, lol. Have a great week !
PS : Since I started writing this com, I bought Killer, I’m so unable to resist temptation…

    • LOL Killer is the prequel to Stalker, I don’t think it matter what order you read them in but I think I am going to read Killer first. I think I needed a fresh way to write them since I seem to be in a review writing slump and this helped a lot. It mimics my notes so its perfect πŸ™‚

I do hope he will be ok with my mom, I am hoping the appointment we have on Friday will shed some light on why he is feeling that way. I think a break will be good for him πŸ™‚

  10. I hope Ryan will feel better while spending time with your mom and his sister, away from school and noise and performance issues πŸ™‚
I look forward to seeing your new review format, it’s a good idea to have your reviews being as close to how you take notes when you read as possible, it’ll be less work for you, right?
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

    • Yes, I think he would use a break this has been a rough year for him. I think he is looking forward to it.

I just seem to be able to write the review faster and it is a lot less work since most of it is already written in my notes πŸ™‚
