Just a Rant and Some #COYER ~ WIR & TSP

Posted November 15, 2015 by Michelle in The Sunday Post, WIReadview / 22 Comments

WIR&TSPWeek in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, post a recap of the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

On the Blog & Real Life:

So here we go again, I am about to rant, the bus company informed me on Friday that after Thanksgiving they would no longer be driving my son because the Essex County Commission found a cheaper service to drive him…UM NO! I have had such a bad experience with these bus companies that when I finally find one that not only I am comfortable with but my son is also they go and change it on me. I have called the Commission and left a message hoping they will do the right thing so I don’t have to lose my shit again. Apparently they can pick drivers for special needs kids but they have no understanding of how a change like that will affect a kid with special needs. And I am sorry but I prefer quality over cheaper because the cheaper you go you get what you pay for. I seriously can’t take this shit anymore, they should be more concerned with the welfare of the child and not how much money they saved. Rant over!

This week has been just a normal week. Today is my daughter’s birthday party for her friends at our house. I invited 9 girls to come over and play and have only gotten back 2 responses. So I guess we will see if anyone else shows up. I was so annoyed that no one responded but even just her and her two friends should me a lot of fun. We are going to watch Inside Out and have pizza, play with all Julia’s toys and eat cake. So I might not be around today until later.

ChallengeSneakPeekThat is correct, Sign Ups begin this SATURDAY! I am so excited to be going back to basics and but with a few additions from other COYER Challenges in the last two years. This one will be very laid back to help you get to all those books you have been dying to read just taking up space on your Nook or Kindle.

Bookish Resolutions and the 2016 Reading Assignment Challenge is also coming back on Dec 1st and 2nd with Sign Up posts for next year. Both of these challenges have gone through some major changes to make them more interactive and fun.

In other blogging news, I am trying to get organized since I have a lot of things to do before the end of the year and need to try and get every thing set up and scheduled. I was able to finish a few reviews, review posts and have them all scheduled. I also have a few review books that I promised I wouldn’t take but couldn’t help because they were the second book in a series. I am hoping to keep this going with my reading since I now have a bunch of reviews already scheduled for January.

I got a book this week that I will list below however I am a little confused as to what I can do. The cover reveal for the book is on November 19th, which I will be doing, but the cover is already on Goodreads so I am not sure I can show it here or not since it hasn’t been revealed yet….see why I am confused….so below you will see the text for the book I got but not the cover, if you want to see the cover you can go to Goodreads or wait till next week. I don’t know what I am suppose to do lol.

I am participating in HoHoHo Read-a-thon and have yet to finish my first book but I am hoping by the time this is posted I will be almost finished with it and on to the next Christmas book. I plan to read novellas for the rest of the read-a-thon since I have so many.

So heartbroken with everything going on in Paris, My prayers are with them today and always.

    • The party turned out great only 3 girls came but it was really perfect they really got the chance to play together and they all had so much fun.

I haven’t heard anything from the bus company yet so I am hoping that is a good thing and they are fixing it otherwise come Monday after Thanksgiving my son isn’t getting on the bus.

  1. I hope you get the thing with your son’s bus taken care off and go ahead and give them a piece of your mind if they don’t straighten up. πŸ™‚ I seen that Charmed book on someone elses Sunday Post so it’s a bit strange that they are doing a reveal when it’s already on goodreads. (unless someone who is a goodreads librarian and had the pic put it up there…lol.) I totally boomed the Ho Ho Ho RAT as I forgot I have a blog tour book I need to read for this week so I put my Happy Homicide: 13 cozy novellas aside to read it. πŸ™‚

I am curious to see what you have changed on your challenges. πŸ™‚

    Happy reading

    • Thank you! I hope so too.

It really is weird but I figured I would play it safe and just avoid showing it.

I am bombing too. Was hoping to read a lot more but I just had a lot more to do this weekend than I expected. I am hoping to finish the one I am reading which is two books in one.

  2. I am sorry to hear you are going through. My sister has a special needs kid and has faced a sudden change in the school she was taken her, so during a critical time she couldn’t continue going and the change was hard – so I watched it happen in the family and understand. It’s unfortunate that these people do not understand ;/

    • I hear so many stories and it makes me so sad. Any type of change can throw them off completely. Having my son change buses now is just a bad time. He goes through some sensory issues because of Christmas and the house being decorated. He loves it so much but it sort of over stimulates him.
It really is unfortunate that they don’t understand when they should, it’s their job!

  3. You’re definitely in need of some serious ranting. I remember all the issues with the bus company. How frustrating that you got everything settled in a way that actually works and then they go change things on you. Also, how frustrating about the RSVPs! I know it’s gotten to be an issue lately. The Tornado is really wanting to have a birthday party this year but I’m hesitant for exactly that reason. I always had a better time with just a couple of friends than a big group so hopefully that’s the case there.
I love the Mindcraft selfie! And I’m with you on being confused on the cover real. Have a great week!

    • It’s so annoying, I just don’t understand why they need to have an auction again to see what driver will work after Thanksgiving? Why can’t the auction be in September and last all year. Ugh! It’s so ANNOYING!!! lol
I feel bad for her, I am not even worried about the set up I have to do since most of the stuff can be put away and just kept for us another time. I wont order any food until everyone gets here. I am hoping at least one or two more comes, like just shows up. I did get one more response today so that is 3 girls plus Julia. So regardless it should be fun!

  4. GAH(!!!!!) on the ECC! They are so lucky I don’t have a Book of Shadows. *grumble grumble* And that book cover…sounds like someone had premature cover postage over on Goodreads. It happens. I think your solution was just right. πŸ™‚ I hope you have a great week, Michelle! And I’m so excited about what we talked about yesterday. *zips lips*

  5. That is so frustrating with the bus company. You fought so hard to get a reliable company and now you have to do it again. I hope it all works out! I can’t wait for COYER! I also can’t to see the changes on Bookish Resolutions & Reading Assignment. I did terrible with these challenges because work got in the way but I have a more realistic plan for next year. Have a great week!

    • It happens every year so I just need to fight them again. With Ryan it wont stop fighting I am sure for a long time.

The changes give both challenges a little more to them. It will be a good change and I am hoping helpful. I realized how hard the 2015HW was because if I had joined the challenge I would have totally failed 3 months ago. I actually had to stop reading my books because they were almost all DNF but next year I have a plan πŸ™‚

  6. That’s so frustrating you run into troubles with these bus companies again. Now you finally have one that works and they are going to change things again? I agree they should consider the kids they are driving and how stability is important to them. And I definitely agree that when it comes to things like that quality is much more important than the price. I hope you can get it solved!

That’s sad only 2 girls replied, maybe the other will come, but their parents just didn’t let you know. That’s frustrating though, it’s not that much effort to let someone know whether you’ll come or not. I hope Julia has a great birthday party! Wish her a fun day from me!

I am so excited that Coyer sign-ups start soon! Yay! Can’t wait to see what you have planned for this one. Oh and can you e-mail me the new Limabean ad for my site? I still have the old one. I’ll be skipping the Reading Assignment challenge this year as it just didn’t work for me, but I’ll be joining the Bookish Resolutions one. I already thought of a resolution I want to do for next year πŸ˜‰

You are doing great with having reviews for January scheduled already. I am doing great with scheduling ahead, but not with reviews as I just don’t read enough for that. I do have a week filled with Lola’s Ramblings posts at the end of the year, so no reviews that week might mean I can get a week or two ahead.

I have organized a few cover reveals when the book was on amazon, but it’s always a bit icky if the cover is shown somewhere online already before the cover reveal, so I usually try to prevent that.

I love Minecraft and that’s fun you can play together. My minecraft skin looks like a creeper in an organization 13 outfit (from KH). I like your link girl and white hoodie skins, they look great! I hope you’ll have a great week!

    • I am hoping the fix it for me, I do like the guy that drives them and unless you make a huge issue they don’t do anything.

She has one more girl coming so there will be 3 girls and Julia so it will be fun.

I sent you the logo, I am so sorry I thought I had already sent it, totally losing my mind lol.

I have a lot to get to with posts so I am hoping this week I can be productive. It always starts out that way but then at some point just doesn’t happen πŸ™‚

  7. Sorry to hear about the bus thing, sounds like BS to me. It’s always about cost , always cutting costs but I notice when it’s premiums or payments we have to make, those never seem to go down. I hope it works out.

The RSVP is kinda weird, you’d think people would respond, especially for a bday party. Geez. Same here with HoHo- I started slow but I’m going to try and bust some out today and tomorrow. LOL. And looking forward to COYER.

    That’s funny about Minecraft! πŸ™‚

    • Drives me crazy because I would bet that how much isn’t a huge difference either.
I did get one more response today so that will be three girls plus my daughter. So it should be fun.
I am super slow, I didn’t think this weekend was going to be as crazy as it is turning out but I should be done at some point today I hope.

  8. Bea

Aaargh, that’s so frustrating about the bus company. I hope you can work it out. Also frustrating that more people didn’t RSVP, as well as being rude. I hope Julia has fun with the kids who do come. I’m looking forward to COYER and going back to basics; that’s been my favorite version of COYER so far.

I hope you get the bussing straightened out and have a good week!

    • Thank you, I hope so too because I get such an upset stomach when this happens. I did get to them two weeks early so they can’t surprise me lol They might be thinking, “Oh no, it’s her again!” πŸ™‚
Basics was my favorite also, I did like the change ups but I am hoping maybe during the winter we can just keep it basic since it’s just the perfect time of year to relax.

  9. School (and getting there and back home) plus extra-curricular school activities supervised by the school should definitely be more about the quality! I hope you’ll get the bus for Ryan sorted out!
I have never understood why some people don’t RSVP for children’s birthdays! What is up with that? You do have different things to plan based on the number of kids coming – and between 3 and 10 that’s a huge difference!
Your new books look good, Michelle, and I hope you’ll enjoy them.
I can’t wait for COYER sign-up πŸ™‚ And I’m happy it will be back to basics with a few tweaks.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    • It’s so frustrating, each kid should have the same bus driver the entire time they are in school. I don’t understand why they need to keep changing it. I also feel bad for his driver since if he doesn’t drive Ryan he might not have any other kids to drive so he wont be working.

I wonder if most people think RSVP is regrets only however I do know one girl is not coming and her mom didn’t bother texting me either so who knows. I am just happy I am having it at the house and not out because it would have cost me a LOT of money.

I am rather excited too, i love when COYER is in full swing πŸ™‚
