A loss and an earthquake ~ WIR & SP

Off the Blog:

On Friday we had to say goodbye to our baby girl Buttons. We tried so hard to get her better but she just wasn’t making any progress and she was in pain and uncomfortable. We spent the week spoiling her with extra treats, sleeping on the bed and kitten kisses. It has been very hard for us, I have been taking it rather hard. She was my baby for 15 years, I will miss her forever. We did all we could for her and we know we did the right thing. I have no regrets just that I wish it wasn’t so soon. It happened so fast and I don’t even think we had time to process it all. We really had hoped she would get better. She was very much loved and will be missed so much.

On Thursday, My daughter and I were in the kitchen and my son was in the living room. The house started to sway and shake, the door started to rattle rather hard and the dog started to bark. You can hear a slight rumble. It only lasted for a few second and we all stared at each other. I thought a truck went by but I didn’t hear anything. I looked at my daughter and said I think that was an earthquake. We waited and sure enough on the news we saw that they had a 4.1 earthquake in Delaware which is a VERY long way from here so holy crap we felt that rather hard! They said on the news that it was felt all the way into New York. That would be the second earthquake I felt in NJ.

The week’s weather was rather odd, sort of warm but still chilly, it was nice but finally this week coming up we are getting into winter and I can’t wait! I just want the cozy so I can get into a better Christmas mood. Even with the passing of my sweet angel, I still want the holiday to be fun for the kids. It’s our favorite time of year and I want to make sure it isn’t too sad for them. I am almost done xmas shopping and finally brought out the big Xmas Dinner Book. I can’t wait to start planning for the day. Going to keep as busy as possible the next couple of days and might be taking a blogging break at the end of the month. I will let you know for sure as it gets closer. ๐Ÿ™‚

Blogging News and Updates:

I wasn’t in the right mind to blog this week but I spend most of Saturday and today trying to get some blogging stuff done for the week. It might be light for a few days and I might be around but not completely around but Berls will have us covered at least for the first half of the week. I am hoping to be all caught up by Wednesday. Lets see if I can accomplish that, it’s been a struggle and my depression just wont seem to lift. I think the break at the end of the month will be good for me. I really think I just need a break from everything. (except work because I can’t get off that week)

Last Week on the Blog:

Bookish News and What I grabbed

I have a feeling this slump is about to be destroyed! ๐Ÿ™‚ Melanie Karsak came at the perfect time. I LOVE her books. I just finished her story in Mistletoes and Mischief and will now move onto Beauty and Beastly since I need to read it by December 6th or a little after. I will then go back to M&M read one story at a time squeezing other stories in as I go. I don’t think I will make my goodreads goal but I might be close.

*HUGS* so sorry about your baby… It’s so tough. We said goodbye to both of our 17-year old cats in the past 12 months. It was very hard and I no longer had my kitties to comfort me when I needed it. However, after about 7 months, back in the summer, we adopted 2 kittens – litter mates and best buddies. They’ve brought such joy! I still miss Nicky and Oscar, but Charlie and Coco have been a blessing.

  2. I’m so so sorry to hear about Buttons. That’s so hard even though it sounds like there was no other decision you could have made. I can see why you wouldn’t me in the mood to blog and hope you’ve taken some time to grieve. That’s crazy about the earthquake! We’ve only had one small one hear and I was up on a mountain and didn’t feel anything! I was so disappointed!

  3. I’m so sorry to hear about Buttons. It must be excruciatingly hard, but you made the right decision. I can’t believe you felt an earthquake that far away! That’s crazy! I hope you can accomplish some tasks this week – I need to, too!

  4. I’m so sorry for Buttons. I can imagine it was hard losing her but at least she is no longer in pain. Since I live in California I’m used to earthquakes. It’s good to hear you weren’t hurt. I hope you have a good week.

  5. Oh no, so sorry to hear that Michelle. Was hoping for a different outcome of course, it’s always hard to lose a beloved animal companion like that. And an earthquake? Yikes you don’t usually think of Delaware and NJ as a place for earthquakes, but I guess they can happen anywhere? that would be freaky.

Good luck with blowing up the reading slump. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. I’m so sorry about Buttons. I wish our furbabies would live longer than they do. We’ve thought about adopting another dog after losing Taco, but haven’t. Yet. Some day… Make sure to give yourself time to mourn, but remember how happy and loved Buttons was. {{{hugs}}}

I’m kinda skating along right now. NetGalley November really kicked my ass, but I’m happy about it. How fucked up is that? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here’s something that may cheer you up…I have Christmas-themed monster porn going up tomorrow. Pssst…one of the heroines is named Michelle. ๐Ÿ˜€

I hope you have a great week, Michelle. I know it’ll be hard, but we’re here for you. XOXO

    • We were talking about getting another cat but I just can’t now and said maybe after the summer next year we will start looking. I never had a cat before and Buttons was awesome, she makes me want to have another even if I am allergic to cats! ๐Ÿ™‚

I swear Michelle better be getting banged by a tentical Monster or I will be pissed!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I almost want to just throw in the towel for the rest of the year and just start over in Jan. At this point that might actually happen. I just need to clear my head and right now it’s just not happening.

  7. I’m so sorry about Buttons. I know it’s hard to lost a fur-baby. {hugs} With everything that has happened it is not unexpected to not have much of an interest in reading. Take your time. hope you have a better week coming up.

  8. Still sending tons of hugs to y’all. I know it was a rough week, but I know you did the right thing for Buttons. You didn’t tell me about the earthquake! Wow! I’ve felt one here in Dallas about 7 years ago I think, but that’s it. I’m glad it wasn’t anything serious for y’all. I need to ask you a couple questions about the end of the year posts, so remind me. Hugs!

    • I am pretty sure I was suppose to remember something and I can’t remember what it was.
The earthquake was rather quick but so odd.
I am glad you posted all the sign ups in your post because I totally flaked. I hope to be in a better mind this week….I hope.

Text me anytime. I might not answer the phone since I have a lot to do today that I haven’t done in the last two weeks. I also have a lot of blogging to do.

  9. I’m so sorry to hear about Buttons ๐Ÿ™ it’s always hard when we have to make that choice for a beloved pet, it’s bittersweet knowing it was the right thing to do.

Fingers crossed you’re dragged out of your reading slump! I hope you have a good week ahead.
