#nonReview ~ The Supernormal Sleuthing Service: The Lost Legacy by Gwenda Bond

First Impression:

The cover is AMAZING and I love Gwenda’s Lois Lane series so how can I pass up the chance to read this book. The book’s setting is in a paranormal hotel which gave this book another bonus point. It wasn’t until I started reading did I realize I was about to have a problem.

What I liked:

  • The setting, I love the idea of a hotel that hosts paranormal beings. The possibilities are endless when it comes to something like that.
  • The story started off as very interesting but that was pretty much where it ended.

What I didn’t Like:

  • Info dump, like so much information, I honestly couldn’t keep up and just stopped caring.
  • The characters were not my favorite, I did however like the elevator but the Main Characters were a little flat.
  • The story fell apart and was taking too long. In MG to keep kids attentions you need a lot of action, this was a lot of lord of the rings walking around. By 50% I wanted them to just get it over with already.

Final Thoughts:

I really wanted to like this but once I hit 55% I was out, I didn’t want to waste anymore time trying to get into this book when I just wasn’t a fan of the characters. I think younger kids would really enjoy the book maybe as an adult this just wasn’t for me. I would love to see if one of my kids would read it and get a different opinion because I honestly think it was just me.

Not my favorite but would be great for Middle Grade kids. Click To Tweet

  1. πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™ Oh well, not everyone can love every book but I really liked it and just can’t believe you didn’t…lol. Maybe I was in the mood or it was cause I was on vacation and bored but it went really quick for me and I can’t wait for the next one. I admit Stephen was not real likable at first but he grew on me but my favorite was Ivan and his bag of detective stuff…lol. I really liked the Elevator as well. So bummed it was a miss with you. πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™

  2. I’m sorry it didn’t grab you, but I think 55% is more than a valiant effort when it’s just not clicking! I really liked my read this month! Here’s to better luck next time!

  3. I was just like you upon seeing the cover – it looks fantastic! I’m sad though to hear that you didn’t get along with the book. I think I’ll still keep it on my TBR to try it myself but it’s a shame you weren’t overly fond. Hope you’re little one enjoys it at least. Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts. πŸ™‚

  4. This one looked so good and the concept sounded fun, so I am sorry to hear it wasn’t :(. It’s hard when you can’t relate to the character and the pace is slow. I don’t mind info dumps too much, but there was to be enough happening in a book as well. I was tempted to request this one when I saw it on edelweiss, so now I am kinda glad I didn’t. Great review!
