and looking ahead to 2017, for the next 12 days.

I’ll be sharing highlights month-by-month and giving you a peak at what’s ahead in 2017.
out with the OLD: 2016
During April’s Monthly rewind I wrote this “With all the slumping I have decided that for right now I plan to read what I want. I know books have deadlines and release dates but with my issue I thought I would ignore them all and just read. I will get to them all and will probably wind up reading more of the new release books than I would think but I just want to read and not feel pressure to get stuff done before a certain date. I think this will get me in a much better mood and a more happy blogger ” I think this was very important statement that I made this year and something I think I had forgotten while I was so deep into the 2016 slump from hell. I believe it has made me think better for the new year.
in with the NEW: 2017
By the end of the year I realized a huge genre change was needed for me and after what I wrote in April, I also realized I needed to read more of what I wanted and that meant cutting down on ARCs…now don’t get nervous, I have no intention of giving up on ARCs I love those but I plan to be a LOT more selective and keep away from the YA romance books that seem to be getting on my nerves more than me loving them. I think I want to read more adult. So 2017 will be a whole new world for Because Reading and the reviews that are posted. I am going to do a lot more Steamy Adult, Still stick with my favorite MG and lots of YA fantasy, steampunk, sci-fi, ect. with light romance. I don’t mind the YA romance I just can’t deal with the YA books that are nothing but romance. I am sure it will change again at some point but for now I really want to read what I want and try very hard to avoid that dreaded “Reading Slump” next year. 🙂

Uh oh, Because Reading is going steamy….lol. 🙂 I hope you can avoid that slump as they are awful!
Yup, I need some steam 🙂 but I still love my cute books too lol me too reading slumps are awful!
I know what you mean Michelle! I fell intoa reading slump that lasted three months Sep-Nov. It was now in December when I was able to finish a book again. I can’t read fantasy/sci-fi now which is my favorite genre so I’m reading PNR and mystery. Hope this plan works for you!
