My Review:
I thought this book was going to be about a bunch of stories around a campfire but it’s a little different. Each story, you get 5 creepy stories, is told as events at the camp grounds is happening. I thought it was pretty good, I liked the stories, not as scary as I thought but I guess for a middle grade read it might be scary.
The first story in the book is about a group of camp counselor telling scary stories. One of the counselors Veronica is sort of a jerk she tends to pick on the little kids and pretty much deserves whatever happens to her. This story was actually the creepies out of the 5. I was hoping this was a set up to the rest of the book.
The second story was about not so friendly mermaids and I seriously wouldn’t want to be shipwrecked around this fish of the sea.
The third story was about an old dog and a puppy finding a scary monster in the woods. I think this story just made me sad and now I am worried about the dog.
The fourth story was about Zombies, I actually liked this one, I am not a zombie fan because they usually scare me but this was pretty good and I liked the kid Cameron. The end was pretty good with this one as well.
The firth story was about a swarm. This was very interesting and I liked how it was done not super scary but it made me itchy.
The events at the camp ground was pretty cool also but I think it had a story that could have been a lot bigger but it was a really fun read. I recommend to middle grade (as long as they are not to scared) teens and adult. Quick and fun and perfect for a summer night or while you are camping. 🙂
