My Review:

It really was the cover that caught my attention with this book. I loved the look of the characters and the title really made me think this would be a really fun adventure to go on. I wasn’t disappointed but I did have a few issues with the overall book.

I loved reading about Fin and Marrill plus the adventure they were about to go on was one that appeared to be fast and exciting. As much as it was exciting it was not fast. The story was very interesting but along the way you hit a few slow spots and the idea that Fin was someone with the ability to have people forget him was over done. I did however find it funny at few times especially when they were sailing on the boat in the pirate stream. One of the characters, Ardent the wizard, was by far my favorite and just so funny, I enjoyed all the characters in this book however the names and places of some things were long and hard to pronounce it got a little overwhelming especially for a kids book that some kids might not be able to follow along. The world build was interesting but it was a lot of stuff to remember and like I said about the names it could get a bit confusing.

As much as I loved the characters it was the story that really just got me all kinds of confused. I think this is a great book for upper Middle Grade and even Adults will enjoy. The characters really make this book a good read. I would recommend if you are looking for something with lovable characters and can get past the confusing plot.

  1. The cover is so pretty! I can definitely understand why it caught your attention. I love how a whole world seems to come out of that map. I am sorry to hear about the slow parts and the confusing plot at times, but overall it stil sounds like a fun book. The characters sound quirky and well done. Great review!

  2. I’m in love with that cover. I’m glad this was a fun read despite some real issues. I’m not sure this is at the top of my TBR but I’ll definitely be looking for this at the library.
