School, a goodbye and blogging ~ WIR & TSP

Posted September 4, 2016 by Michelle in The Sunday Post, WIReadview / 19 Comments

WIR&TSPWeek in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, post a recap of the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

On the Blog, Books & Real Life:

This week we said Goodbye to our last Hermit Crab, Meanie. I am not sure what happened. He seemed fine over the weekend and on Tuesday we had to call it. He just wasn’t moving, I am positive he died. He was a great hermit and the longest one we had. We are going to miss him but now he is with his friends. We are done with Hermit Crabs because those little guys are VERY hard to take care of. We will stick with furry animals, Biscuit is still doing great and seems to know who we are. She is so fluffy and a very good girl. We all just love her. We would love to take her out more but Dexter is so curious about her, we don’t know if he wants to eat her or love on her. She does enjoy her ball and her cage has so many things to play with but she is still trying to make her great escape. 🙂 Not going to happen!

School finally starts this week and it is going to be one hell of a shock to all of our systems. My son now starts school at 8am so he needs to be on his bus at 7:10. This is the kid that can sleep until noon so he is in for one heck of a rude awakening. This also might throw him off a bit so I know the first few weeks will be rough for him. This also means I need to get up super early to get him and myself ready. My daughter is the only one that will have a normal schedule and my mom will take care of her once I leave for work. I am sure the first few weeks I will need a nice IV of coffee to stay awake.

It’s now time to start getting ready for the last 4 months of the year. OMG, is it really only 4 months?!?!? Well the blog has been up and down the last few months and I am sorry for that, just wasn’t in a good place but I am feeling much better now and think the fresh start of September will finally get me back in a productive way and out of the lazy. *fingers crossed* this week I did something and I am very happy. Limabean Designs has a website!!! Well sort of, I still need to design it and get it all set up but the domain is bought and the site is loaded. I just need to get my head around what I want it to look like and what I want it to have on it. I will share when it is done, I am hoping to be finished with it by the end of September or earlier.

This weekend we are at the shore but with the Harry Potter Hurricane coming I think we might cut the visit short, I wont know that until after this is posted. I hope everyone in the path of the hurricane stayed safe. <3

  1. Sorry to hear about Meanie. Hermit crabs are unique pets but hard to manage. I hope the kids are doing good. I understand how you feel about the blog and hope you get your groove back. Life and work has been crazy so I’m not as active as I’d like to be. Hopefully October should be back to normal for me. Good luck with the new school year and I hope everything works out well. Have a great week!

  2. You had a good blogging week!

Yay for school starting I guess, though I’m sure you’re the one with the added stress in the mornings! Sorry to hear about your last hermit crab. I ‘possibly’ killed one of my niece’s years ago. I have no idea how but I was looking after it and it lost a leg. She was only little so I didn’t tell her its mate had become cannibalistic… but I was tempted!

  3. Good luck with the school schedule! I know this is a struggle for me and I don’t have kids! I struggle just to get myself back on the routine!
Hopefully the hurricane doesn’t ruin your weekend! Have a wonderful week!

  4. Sorry to hear about your last hermit crab dying :(. I am glad to hear Biscuit is doing well. And better to be safe than sorry with her around the dog, you never know whether he just wants to play or not.

I hate adjusting to a new schedule! I hope the first week of school and the new schedule goes well for you all.

Good luck with setting up the website for Limabean Designs. Please let me know when it’s up, so I can change any links I have on my blog and site to the new url. Have a great week!

  5. Our school doesn’t start until 8:30, but the elementaries in the area always start earlier than the middle schools because they get out earlier. Their official school day runs 7:40 – 2:55. Honestly, I think I’d do better on the elementary schedule. I hope the kid starts adjusting. It will be rough starting back. I’ve taken to drinking chocolate milk most mornings to kick start myself.

  6. I am so sorry about Meanie. I am dreading the day my daughter asks if we can try fish. I have the worst luck with keeping fish. I hope your son adjusts to his new school schedule without too much trouble. I don’t imagine it will be easy for either of you. Mouse and my husband are having to wake up a little earlier, but that seems to be going okay. It’s getting her to bed at a decent hour that is still a struggle. We do well some nights, but not so much other nights. What’s helped is my new exercise schedule. Since I get up so early, Mouse and I go to bed at the same time. How exciting that you finally have a website for your web designs! That is great news, Michelle. I look forward to seeing it when it’s all done and up and running.

I hope you have a great week, Michelle!

  7. Sorry to hear about the crab. I’ve never had one, but I’ve heard they’re difficult to care for. I know the first several weeks of getting back to school will be hard for you all, but I hope you have a great week.

  8. The Tornado has to be at school by 7:35 and it is killing us! We were doing pretty good but the last 2 weekends we’ve all slept till at least 9 because we were so exhausted. Hope the school routine goes smoothly and that you have stocked up on serious quantities of coffee! I’m so sorry to hear about Meanie but glad Biscuit is doing great. Have a fantastic weekend!

    • I usually leave for work at 7:30 but I used to get up at 6:50 to get myself ready and make the kids lunch. Now I have to get up at 6 to get him out by 7:10. I hope he is ready for it. I really don’t think he is. Might have to have him start drinking coffee lol 🙂

Thank you, We are going to miss him. Biscuit is really a very good girl and we think she likes us! 🙂

  9. RIP Meanie, but I am glad that Biscuit is doing well. I am glad you are feeling better after your break and I can’t wait to see what you do with your new website. I am sure being a designer has it’s perks and faults and you can never decide what you want…lol. I hope you like your current read, I picked that one up from Netgalley since I missed it at BEA. 🙂

    Happy reading,

    • Thank you! We will miss him.
Surprising for me with stuff like that I would rather someone else do it for me, only because I find it easier to explain what I want then actually do it lol. I will get it started once the kids are officially back to school. Ryan has half days this week so I wont get my friday along until next week.
I will be starting it today, I am super excited about it. That was the one I got denied on EW and the lady gave it to me. Hate that it took so long to read.

  10. RIP Meanie 🙁 so sad but I guess it’s good that you’re done with hermit crabs for a while. They haven’t been easy for y’all! I’m glad Buscuit is thriving though 🙂 Good luck getting the kids back to school – an earlier start time is always a challenge. Has Ryan had a chance to see the school so he’s semi prepared? And how did the his driver assignment work out? Did you get who you want?

    • They are not easy at all. I thought they would be but I can’t deal with that much work. lol I also believe they shouldn’t be pets they live a lot longer if not in captivity. I actually feel bad for them.

No, Ryan didn’t get the same driver, I am actually bummed but they wont change it unless I have an issue. I think he has been there already a few times just hasn’t gotten a tour or anything for this upcoming year.

  11. Aw sorry to hear about Meanie. That’s tough. Good luck with school starting, hopefully it’s not too bad. Seems like it’s always chaotic, in our neighborhood even the bus drivers don’t know what they’re doing for the first week or two, their stops are all over the place lol. Confused kids milling aound…

Hope you have a great weekend at the shore (if you’re there ) or home (if you’re not). I haven’t been following the hurricane but I probably should check the news once in a while lol.

Oh and I hope this comment goes through. It looks .like comments I leave on WordPress blogs aren’t going through. Maybe they’re going to spam… sigh.

    • Thank you, he was a good hermit. The kids took it well since I pretty much thought he was dead two times before.
Everything is always confusing the first week or two. I am hoping this year wont be hard for me to get both kids since the bus driving my son will be different than last time.

Your comment came through, WordPress was acting very strange. I was able to fix what was wrong on mine and I think that helped.
