About the Author

Born and raised in the Philippines, I began studying in Canada in the year 2011. Though I only know how to speak three languages (English, Tagalog, and some French), I have learned to treasure them.

I enjoy writing, digital painting, playing video games, and most of all, eating bitter gourd. Whenever I’m not writing, I’m either playing League of Legends (or Pokémon) or drawing something that looks like a drawing a five-year-old would have drawn.

About the Book

Stygian Rift
by Jayra Almanzor
Paperback, 1st, 318 pages
Published August 15th 2014 by Black Bed Sheet Books

What would you do if you woke up in hell and couldn’t remember a thing?

Set in a dystopian society about 150 years from the 21st century……

Suddenly rousing in a place completely different from his world, seventeen-year-old Robert is greeted with accusations, bullying, and fear from the teenagers around him. Life isn’t easy in the new place, especially if it’s the direct opposite of how and where he was raised.
However, there’s something more about the place that gives him the chills. Is it the fact that monsters and demons always get to massacre someone every night, and then leave when dawn comes? Or that he can’t recall what his surname is? Maybe it’s that the locals are always blaming him for what happened to Cleo, a girl whom Robert doesn’t even know.
Determined to find out what happened, how he got there, and how to get out, Robert and his unreliable fox companion tries to persuade the most stubborn party of defeatists to help them on their crusade, or go off on their own. Filled with thrills, devotion, realism and originality, Stygian Rift is one unforgettable, emotional journey!

Chatting with the Author

I am very happy to have you on the blog today to chat about some fun stuff so my followers can get to know you better 🙂

What’s something that amazes you?
How the world works and of course, technology! I’m always amazed by how every single person and biotic element have lives just like me.

When do you find yourself singing?
I don’t sing because I always get laryngitis when I do so, but I like singing in my head in the shower.

What movie deserves a sequal?
Definitely The Outsiders.

If you could travel in time, were would you go?
The past, I guess. I want the future to be a surprise.

It’s a rainy Sunday afternoon, What movie would you want to see on TV?
I don’t watch a lot of TV, but on Youtube, definitely Swoozie, Sky Williams, and Solwolf!

What was your favorite childhood game?
Pokemon, Battle Realms, Counterstrike, Circus Charlie, and Ragnarok.

What is your favorite kind of cereal?
Cinnamon Toast Crunch. If you haven’t tried it out, go to your nearest Walmart and grab a box. They’re that good.

What is your favorite snack food?
Roasted seaweed is and will always be my favorite food!

How do you like to relax?
I like to draw or write, but sometimes I like playing video games.

Which animal scares you the most? Why?
Deep-sea anglerfishes! Those things are freaky, seriously. Go look it up on Google and thank the heavens that those things don’t live above the abyssopelagic and bathypelagic zones in the ocean…

What is your all time favorite place to go?
This summer, we went on a cruise to Europe. Barcelona, Spain was definitely my favorite out of all those! So I think Spain is my all-time favorite place to go. Those churros were simply amazing.
