Tell Me Something Tuesday was hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings, but she has (temporarily?) stopped blogging. So a group of us that had been doing posts (Linda from Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, Karen from For What It’s Worth, Roberta from Offbeat YA, Jen from That’s What I’m Talking About and me) decided to get together, come up with some more topics and keep the meme going.Michelle made us a logo and we’re off and running. For more details, check out this post where I reintroduced the meme.
I can be sporadic, but when I do join in I will always share next week’s topic at the end of the post. So, today is about…
Travel: are you getting out? Where have you been?
Not really. I have always wanted to be a traveler, but always lacked the funds to do it. For the first time in my life I could actually afford to travel, but now I have Dante. Travel with a 3 year old to 99% of the places I would like to go does not sound like a good time for him or us. So I’ll wait for him to get older and be able to enjoy some vacations.
I did have a work trip last month for two nights to Austin (3.5 hour drive from where I live). It wasn’t really a vacation, it was work and I didn’t see any of Austin outside the walking distance of my hotel and conference. But it was stressful and took SO MUCH WORK to be gone for just two nights. Reinforcing my idea that solo vacations are not going to work too well anytime soon either.
Now a fun question is…where would I like to travel? That’s a very long list and maybe the subject of another post.
Now that you have the means, you only need to wait a little for Dante to grow up…at least you have something to look forward to!
I saw you suggested the “where would you like to travel” topic, and it’s a really neat idea.
Maybe some day you will be able to travel! I’d love to travel to visit you and Felicia!! 🙂
We used to travel a lot. It was actually why we started homeschooling! My husband used to travel a lot for work and that way Will and I could go with him. We were in Tampa/St Pete for 6 weeks, New Orleans for 4 months, Port Canaveral for a month and things like that. We also used to go to Disney World every year as well as another smaller trip. I don’t pack light and I don’t like to fly so we mostly stick to car trips. We are starting to travel again and I’m super excited. We have a cruise/Disney trip planned for the fall and will probably go to New Orleans sometime in the next month or so. I’d like to do more international travel but that may be a bit.
Hopefully, you’ll get some really fun trips when your Dante gets older. Oh yeah, work trips like that were a big stresser to me, too.
We are not traveling as much as we would like to travel. We have done short necessary trips with our air purifier and masks and Lulu. There are many, many places we enjoyed going. We traveled with my daughter when she was young all the time, especially she went on work trips with me but usually my mom joined us to watch her for the meetings she couldn’t do and twice one of her daycare teachers. She doesn’t remember everything though. Like we were in Hawaii for 2 weeks when she was 4. She had an amazing time.
I wish I could travel more.
