As a supernatural outbreak baffles Scotland Yard and causes protests against the psychic agencies throughout London, Lockwood and Co. continue to demonstrate their effectiveness in exterminating spirits. Anthony is dashing, George insightful, and Lucy dynamic, while the skull in the jar utters sardonic advice from the sidelines. There is a new spirit of openness between the team now that Anthony has shared his childhood story, and Lucy is feeling more and more like her true home is at Portland Row. It comes as a great shock, then, when Lockwood and George introduce her to an annoyingly perky and hyper-efficient new assistant, Holly Munro. Meanwhile, there are reports of many new hauntings, including an old school where bloody handprints and a glowing boy are appearing. But ghosts seem to be the least of Lockwood and Co.'s concerns when a living assassin makes an attempt on Fittes's and Rotwell's lives. Can the team get past their interpersonal issues to save the day on all fronts? Danger abounds, tensions escalate, and new loyalties form in this third delightfully terrifying adventure.
Oh how I missed these 3 kids. The last book sort of ending with a bit of a shock and I couldn’t wait to find out what happened in this one.
Something strange is going on in London and it’s up to the investigators to find the source. Lockwood, George and Lucy are just as amazing in this book as they were in the first two. I absolutely adore these three. Things are getting crazy for them and they can’t seem to catch a break in action. The Skull in the Jar is still, by far, my favorite character, he totally cracks me up with his banter with Lucy. This book introduces a new character Holly and as much as she was there to help, Lucy wasn’t a fan of her and I wasn’t sure if I liked her that much either. She does grow on you as the story progresses but something about her rubs me and apparently Lucy the wrong way.
This story like the last two starts off right in the middle of the action and I honestly love that about these stories, it doesn’t really have the build and it’s like right off you get in the middle of things but the story does have a few flashbacks to help keep you up to date. You do find out what happened or at least the story about the shock at the end of the 2nd book but it takes a few chapters before you get to that point. I was sort of waiting for it however the way this book ending I am now again in shock and can’t wait for the next book.
This is one of my favorite series, I adore all the characters and the book can be creepy but has so much humor. The action scenes are really intense and have you on the edge of your seat while forcing you to read, making you tell yourself just one more chapter.
I loved the story in this book and you can really get a stronger connection between all the characters which I really liked. I think this book would be great for middle grade but it does have a few scary parts but nothing that is that bad. I would totally recommend this book to adults as well. The entire series is just a great story and a fun adventure to go on.One of my favorite series and book 3 didn't disappoint... Click To Tweet
