Week in Read-view & The Sunday ~ Awesome Blog week!

Posted October 25, 2015 by Michelle in WIReadview / 36 Comments

WIR&TSPWeek in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, post a recap of the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

On the Blog & Real Life:

I absolutely loved this week on the blog, I did a bunch of Monster and Book Guest Posts and they came out so awesome and the response was fantastic. I loved reading all the comments as much as I loved reading the posts. I can’t Thank all my friends enough for taking the time to do this for me and next week is full of more guest posts, with that being said I had an idea…. (Oh No)

I was wondering if any of you would be interested in doing a guest post for a feature in December. I am calling it “A Holiday Tradition and a Book” I was originally going to call it Christmas but I realized not everyone celebrates Christmas so I wanted it to be a tradition from the holiday you celebrate. It could even be on December 25th you sit around the house all day in your PJs, eating popcorn and watching horror movies, if that is something you do every December 25th, then guess what, it’s a holiday tradition :). Does this sound like something you would be interested in? Let me give you the details of how it works and then just email me if you want to participate, I am sure some of my friends that did the Monster and Book Guest Post will help me too…hint hint 😉

Ok so here is what I am thinking, Pick a Tradition, whether it’s backing cookies every year or putting up the christmas tree or maybe you hate christmas and don’t get out of bed. You can even be one of those people that have a tradition of taking down the tree as soon as the kids are in bed. Any tradition will do as long as it’s something you do every year in December. Do you visit a christmas village? Do you gather with family for Hanukkah? Are you the type that goes to the movies on Christmas morning? Or do you do simple things and plan big for New Years. However you define a tradition just write about it, even a favorite recipe you make every year will do. Once that is done pick a book that either is about Christmas or about your tradition then write why you loved the book and a short review of the book OR maybe you are more of a gift giver so pick a book you would LOVE to have other’s read and would totally gift someone if they asked you to pick them a book as a gift then write why you love the book and a short review of the book, remember you don’t have to pick someone specific to give the book to all I need is just the book.

If this sounds like something you would want to help me out with just send me an email Limabean74@aol.com with Subject: Holiday Tradition and a Book, I will mark you down and give you the date for when I will need the post. Plus make sure when you send me the post to include all your social media, blog address and a short little explanation about yourself, for example, just use your Twitter bio that would be perfect. It will be a first come first picked since I days open and I think this would be so much fun. Sorry to take up the Sunday post with this but I was so excited about it and thought why not ask all of you since I did the Monster and Book to the COYER gang. I do hope you will send me an email. I can’t wait to read everyones Tradition and Book!

In other new, I don’t really have any, my daughters school had a trunk or treat and we took the kids all dressed up to trick or treat. If you don’t know what a Trunk or Treat is you get a bunch of cars in a parking lot, or my daughters playground at school and dress up your car with spooky scary stuff then all the kids come and trick or treat to everyones cars. It was fun 🙂 Otherwise that is pretty much all I got. Tonight is a Wrestling PPV so we are excited about that so I’m excited about that.

  1. Your “A Holiday Tradition and a Book” is a wonderful idea! So many people have such great traditions. I love hearing about them! I might even have my own to throw in the bucket 🙂

    • I’m thinking something is wrong with me lol I usually grab everything, not in a weird reading mood and it seems to be holding me back a little.

  2. Oh MIchelle I wish I was as motivated as you re joining in challenging and memes etc… I keep seeing them (like your new Holiday Tradition one) and think… “Wow, that sounds like fun!” and yet I do nothing about it.

So my hat’s very much off to you!

    • The monster and book did so well I might do themed guest posts more often, even something for authors. I love coming up with new stuff and it’s a huge bonus when people like it.

  3. The Monsters & a Book posts was really a great idea! I’ve added some of the books to my TBR. I’ll have to think about a Christmas post and I’ll let you know =). Have you started Jackaby? It started off slow for me but then I really liked it. The Trunk or Treat looked like a lot of fun. I wish they had this when my kids were younger since a lot of our neighbors don’t give out candy on Halloween night. I hope you have a good week and I’ll be stopping by for this weeks Monsters & a Book.

    • Ok 🙂
Jackaby was very good and it did start a little slow but I enjoyed it a lot. We don’t trick or treat in town we go to the next town over because they have better candy and it’s nicer.

  4. The monster post have been fun! I am sure you Holiday one will go over great too. I can give you a bah humbug post 😉 He he he

You got some good ones read. How did you like Jackaby? I just picked that one up like last week I think it was so I am curious.

    Have a great week!

  5. The holiday feature sounds fun. I’ll think hard about it and let you know if I have time to participate. Always looking for something new to do. I’ll be going back to check the Monster posts too. Sorry I missed them earlier.
Love Mr. Bones. Scary cute:) I just finished with the last touches of decorating for Halloween. Didn’t do as much this year because I couldn’t find a couple of boxes full of my stuff. LOL
Lots of lovely new reads this week too!

    • That is ok, don’t apologize 🙂 If you do check them out I hope you enjoy them they have some great recommendation and the posts are just so well done! Got some very talented and awesome reviews writers.

He is a fun little dude. I love him and the kids think he is so awesome, he gets so much attention when we take him out of storage.

  6. I loved the monster posts. I hope you do that every year. We have many things we do every year for Christmas, but I think the most steadfast one happens on Thanksgiving weekend. We decorate the house, pick out our tree and watch Scrooged. Without fail, every year. 🙂 Of course, by the time Christmas rolls around I’m ready to take all that shit down. LOL Oh! And then in Feb or March (depending on the weather) we sacrifice our Christmas tree to the S’mores Gods.

    • I was going to say we but really it’s me who decorates the house because I have a specific way of putting stuff up. Everyone knows they will lose a finger if something is touched 😉

I LOVE the S’more Gods, I am sure they are very thankful!

  7. I saw the kids’ costumes on FB and they were so cute! We never really did the Trunk or Treat thing, but we always took Robin trick-or-treating in the neighborhood, until she and a friend were big enough to go alone. She’s going out with some college friends this year!

Monster and Book was fun and I need to get around to the other guest posts (in my copious spare time LOL!) I will think about the Holiday Tradition and Book. I have a few traditions but I’m not sure how to pair them with a book, or which book.

Have a wonderful week and Happy Halloween in advance!

    • We take the kids on Halloween they have so much fun and I will be so sad when they don’t want us to come anymore. lol

Those posts turned out awesome, I love everyones responses and the comments are great. I am really enjoying them. Since I love christmas I am looking forward to hearing what everyone does during the holidays and I could always use some more recommendation on christmas or any other book 🙂

  8. Bea

Did you like Jackaby? I did, and now there’s another book. I’m hoping my library has it.

The holiday feature sounds interesting, I’ll have to think about it. The monster posts have been fun to read.

    Have a good week!

    • I really liked Jackaby it sort of reminded me of Lockwood & Co. It was so fun to read and Yes I saw the second one and want to get it once I get some extra money but I might get the physical book since I have the first one.

Please let me know if you want to do it, The Monster posts have been awesome and I hope the holiday ones will be cool also, I just love hearing about all that stuff and the book recommendation are fantastic.

  9. I really enjoyed all the monster and books posts and learning why people liked that monster and hear about books with that monster. I am looking forward to the rest of the guest posts this week!
I like your idea to do somethgin similiar with holiday traditions in december. I don’t really have a holiday tradition anymore, so I don’t think I’ll participate in that one. We used to celebrate christmas in much the same way each year, but in the recent years it’s different every year. I’ll think about it a bit more, maybe I can come up with something.

I saw some pictures from your daughter and son dressed up for halloween. Their costumes looked great! Have a great week!

    • They have been so much fun and I love the interaction within the comments. I am so happy it worked out.

Holiday traditions is hard since everyone has something so different and some have none at all. I actually thought of another I can do for February. I am loving the guest posts not sure why I never did them before.

The kids had so much fun and I absolutely loved my sons costume, he is always thinking different when it comes to halloween and is usually a big hit. At the trunk or treat, people were taking pictures with him, he loves the attention since he has a lot of social issues and anxiety, it’s nice to see him feel good about himself.

  10. I love the Christmas idea! Sounds like such fun! The Trunk or Treating sounds fun and I love Mr. Bones. He’s a bit creepy. Good job on the no books again! I desperately need to give my TBR a break but my willpower is not so good. Now off to go think of Christmas traditions! Have a great week!

Katherine recently posted: This Week in Reading - October 25
    • You don’t have to send the tradition now but send me an email so I can send you back the info once I get over the emails.

My daughter adores him and takes a picture with him every year my favorite is when they were both the same size 🙂

Im not sure if its willpower or just no time to look, I will ruin it all soon 🙂

    • LOL We usually leave him outside the bathroom door after someone goes in. Lots of screaming going on in this house, it’s hilarious! However it’s not funny when you are in the shower and your husband leaves him outside the curtain, scared me so bad I cried LOL

  11. Love the Christmas post idea- and the Monster posts this week. How fun! You always have fun ideas… 🙂

  12. YAY for the Monster and Book feature being a success, Michelle! You know I want to do the Holiday Tradition one, too… I’ve already sent you an e-mail 😉
The Trunk or Treat sounds like it was a lot of fun, too!
And I wish I was able to not add any new books to my shelves, because I already have so many 🙂
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    • I got the email 🙂 I will send you a reply shortly!
I am so happy Monster and Book did so well. It was so much fun to read the comments and you all did the most awesome posts, I love it, Thank you so much for doing it for me!

It was a lot of Fun the kids had a blast running around with their friends.

I really don’t know what is wrong with me lol, I did request 3 books just haven’t gotten them yet so I might be back on the book getting wagon by next week 😉
