Week in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, post a recap of the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
Did an update today and my gallery isn’t working. For some reason my posts are a little strange, sorry about that, working on trying to fix it.
On the Blog & Real Life:
HELLO!!! its been two weeks, I was planning on doing a Sunday Post last Sunday, this is actually the post, but I deleted everything and just started over because once I was done with the 24 hour Read-a-thon I was in no shape to write a post. So I figured I would save it for this Sunday instead 🙂 I did very good with the read-a-thon I lasted until about 4am est. which is about 20 hours. I really wanted to last for entire 24 but I realize I just don’t think I am made to last 24 hours anymore so whatever I can do it totally fine with me since I did read 3.5 books and that made me ridiculously happy. Reading slump OFFICIALLY over however (you knew there would be a however) I think I might be avoiding all deadlines, release dates and reviews for a while. I think to avoid getting into another slump I need to spend the next few months just reading whatever the hell I want and just not worry. Maybe then I can get back on track with dates and deadlines and not get all slumpy.
Julia’s games are going very well and so far the last 3 games she has gotten a hit and rounded the bases to come home. We aren’t suppose to keep track of score but according to my husband who doesn’t listen they have won all the games so far. We are very proud of her and she is having so much fun which is building her confidence and breaking her out of her shell.
I also got Julia a goodreads account because she is a reader (finally). She actually loves marking her books. I think this will be a good way for her to find books and keep track of what she reads, wish I had it when I was younger because I used to read so much and I can’t remember half of what I read 🙂 Please note, I am closely monitoring her site, if you are a friend of mine and would like to be friends with her I am ok with that, however, I will not be allowing her to accept anyone I don’t know.
On the hamster front we are still trying to get them to trust us. The kids just aren’t like me, they don’t play with them enough but Biscuit will come to the cage if you walk up to it. Gumball spends a lot of time in his house, we are going to try to get them in the ball more often because Gumball is getting a little chubby around the middle. It’s only been about 3 weeks so we still have time to get those little buggers to like the kids and they did let me pick them up to put them in the ball to run around so that is progress.
Ok I don’t usually talk about what I am watching but I MUST tell you what I discovered this week. I don’t know how I missed it for so long. I am a fan now and I can’t wait to see more episodes. Ok I am getting ahead of myself. This week I discovered RWBY, it’s on Netflix. It’s an Amine about 4 kick ass girls (Rated PG, I know some amine can be rated MA but this is 100% PG) the girls are at a school to become huntress. I swear this is a mix of Harry Potter, X-Men and a touch of Fairytale (I don’t know how the fairytale fits but it’s there). It’s amazing, the animation needs work but I still think it’s so cool. I just finished season 2 and plan to watch season 3 on the website since all the episodes aren’t out yet but I might wait since the website had the episodes in a weird order. I HIGHLY recommend! It has become my recent obsession.
My thought is it’s Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Belle and Goldie Lock.

So tell me what have you been reading and up to this week?
Hope you all have a fantastic week!!!
Happy Reading
I’ve got to read Curse of the Were-Hyena! Looks so fun. I would have loved Goodreads when I was younger. I’ve always read voraciously and can only imagine how many books I’d have listed there. I’m sure it will keep your daughter reading and reading:)
YAY! I think my reading slump is officially over as well – I’ve finished two books in the last two days. YAY for us! How cool would it have been to have a Goodreads account growing up? I would have a bazillion more books on my “read” shelves. I might have to check out that show – I know my current show I’m watching only has a few more seasons and then I’m going to be lost.
You had a good two weeks of reading, glad your slump is over and I totally get the forget the deadlines and read for fun I have to do that a lot. You have been good about not getting any books but I can’t help myself….lol.
LOL I know how many books we will get at BEA so I need to not get anything…it’s really hard.
24 hours thons are fun. You know every Sunday I open up my current Sunday Post copy the html, and make next weeks post. I just rename it and delete stuff or move it up like week ahead to what you missed. Then all week long as books arrive or I see a post to share I update it. On Saturday I write my commentary add a random image and linky. It is so much easier than doing to all on Saturday night 🙂 Have an awesome week!!
I have a template plugin that I use, so I set it up doing the week and pop everything in. I also write as I go. I didn’t want to do last week so early so I was going to wait until Saturday night or Sunday morning since I would have read a bunch of books but I got to tired 🙂
I can imagine that after that 24 hours readathon you had no energy left to write a Sunday post, but I am glad to see you’re participating again this week :). I am so glad to hear your reading slump is over and it’s definitely a good idea to focus on reading books you want for a while if the deadline stress you out. Blogging shouldn’t be (too) stressful!
I am happy for you and Julia that her baseball games are going so well and it helps her build her confidence, that’s very valuable! I wanted to offer that Julia could friend me, but I do read a lot of adult books as well, so I am not sure if you want her to see all that. I do think it’s great you made a goodreads account for her. I also wished I had known of goodreads earlier so I could have kept track of everything i ever read.
That does sound like a fun anime you are watching. Oh what did you think of Arrow in the Mist? I remember I read that one a long time ago, I think it was a 3 star. I can’t remember a lot about it. And your new mugs look great! That’s so sweet of your mom to buy them for you! I hope you’ll have a great week!
I really want to make sure this slump stays away so if I have to avoid somethings to make it happen I will 🙂
You can totally be Julia’s friends your adult books aren’t to bad and she is really very good about that stuff. That’s the only reason I allowed her to get one.
I think you would like RWBY. It sort of has a Final Fantasy vibe to it too. The fight scenes remind me of a video game. It’s so awesome. Totally worth checking out and they are not very long. The first two volumes are about 3 hours in total maybe 4.
I actually liked Arrow in the Mist. I did give it more starts but the second one is a touch slow. Hoping it picks up soon.
My mom went to disney and she always brings me stuff back. She just knows me very well. 🙂
Congratulations on your Dewey Readathon success, and well done! And yay for being over your reading slump. I am really beginning to think that deadlines and lists of must-read books are not good for a lot of us readers. They can sometimes suck the joy out of reading. Reading what you want, when you want seems to be a good way to get that back.
I’ve been enjoying following the saga of your hamsters. I never had hamsters, so I have really no idea what it entails. (I always thought the habitats were cool, though, especially the ones with tunnels and extra rooms.) Being more of a cat person, I don’t know that hamsters would fare too well in our house!
Also congratulations to Julia; I’m glad she’s enjoying softball, and I hope she likes Goodreads. I would have loved to have something like that to keep track of my reading when I was young!
Thank you. It’s good to be over the slump and back to reading. I hate to miss deadlines and release dates but I also don’t want to slump out of blogging completely so if for now this works than great 🙂
They are so fun but these two are a little more difficult to work with. I think when I was a kid I was all over the hamsters so they got used to me quick. My daughters seems to be the most social one, just needs a little work. I am sure they will come around. Our cat doesn’t really care we have them but the dog likes to keep an eye on them.
I am too, she really need something to break her out of her shell.
I was pretty exhausted after the read-a-thon, too! It was my first one (officially, anyway). I usually try to read a bit more on those weekends.
You accomplished a lot this week! Love those mugs…and your Netflix discovery. Enjoy your week.
I am going to try to read a bit more every weekend. I really need to get my reading on lol I always have so much to do but I need to get more time to read hopefully in the summer.
Thank you 🙂 I love collecting mugs!
After a 24 hour Read-a-thon I would be in no shape to do anything either! 20 hours, 3.5 books ! wow. Good for you Michelle! So glad to hear Reading slump is over! Avoiding deadlines is my favorite hobby so I don’t blame you [though they always find me lol] , Congrats to Julia! Girl Power! and YES DAD! you go and keep that score! 🙂
Yay Julia has a goodreads account! I’ll love to be friends with her and I’m TOTALLY OK to go through a CIA kinda interrogation 🙂 So you go mom! Nothing it’s enough to keep our kids safe
I’m definitely checking out RWBY! Harry Potter + X-Men with a touch of Fairytale ??? I’m IN!!! thx for the recommendation!
and Thx for the interview! Can’t wait for it to come up this week ! 🙂
I will send you a request from her. She is loving it and I am so happy she loves to read. I am very protective of the kids and monitor everything they do, they hate it but to bad 🙂
It’s a GREAT show. The girls are totally kick ass and I love the mix of it all. I might be way more obsessed then I thought I was lol. Went to Hot Topic and bought two shirts 🙂 If they had Funkos I would have bought them but they don’t have them out yet since it’s not really that popular.
Looking forward to the interview, if you need anything else from me let me know! 🙂
20 hrs! I’m not sure I can read that long anymore. I went too many years with only about 4 hrs sleep a night when I had little ones, was going to school and delivering the paper, to stay up like that nowadays. I gotta say how much I love my 8 hrs a night. Even 7 is ok. Less that that and I’m a wreck. I hate getting older! LOL
I need to check out that series. I love Netflix!
Hamsters are a tough pet because they’re mostly nocturnal. Up all night on a squeaky wheel and hiding in their houses sleeping all day. Well, mine always were. LOL And yay for Julia!! Go Julia, Go Julia!
I hope you have a fabulous week, Michelle! xoxo
I don’t believe I can do the full 24 hours but I will at least try to stay up as late as I can because it’s really the only day I can sit all day and read. If I do it others days my family just thinks I’m lazy lol.
It’s totally worth checking out. I don’t know how I found it but even Julia watching it and she loved it. She finished both Volume 1 and 2. I just need to watch Vol 3 which isn’t on Netflix yet but I might watch it on the website because I am having a hard time waiting.
Julia’s hamster is a bit more social but I also blame my kids since they really aren’t paying attention. My mission now is to get these little guy/girl to like me enough to make them more social. I really should have only gotten one but nothing I can do now, I am attached and wont let them go. 🙂 I will secretly call them my hamsters.
Oh wow! 2 weeks and no new books?! That’s great! You’re really strong! Heehee! I’m going to BEA as well and am super excited as it’s my first BEA! Can’t wait to meet all the bloggers and see all the books and get all the books! LOL! I have a feeling it will be a lot of fun!! Have a great reading week!
Stop by my STS if you can!
Old Follower 🙂
I am really trying to avoid since I have been slumping really bad it would be a mistake to grab a bunch of books I didn’t want to read then I would slump all over again lol
You are going to have so much fun, would love to meet up! I will be sure to say hello if I see you!
20 hours of reading in one go is amazing, Michelle. And I’m glad you’re out of your slump, too! I have started to discard deadlines myself, it’s just so much nicer to read what I want to read, just for my own pleasure. I do only request ARCs I really want to read, though, but at the same time, I have to be in the right mood when I start a book…
I can’t wait to actually see you in a little over a week!! *happy dances and squees*
It was pretty good for someone that was slumping for so long. I do only request ARCS I want but recently I just haven’t been grabbing anything because I just don’t know what I am in the mood for.
I told my husband it will be so weird to see you all in person only because I feel like I already know you all after talking to you all for so long, I am so excited and so nervous! But more excited! 🙂 I can’t believe it’s almost here!!!
20 hours, dang that’s pretty good. I’m not sure I’d last that long. And yeah I gotta read what I like (mood reader totally) or I’d be slumping all the time too. I love finding stuff on netflix that is good. I haven’t watched much anime but that trailer is pretty good- she’s kicking a bit of ass there. 🙂
I know I’ve said it before but I just love the cover on both Click Here To Start and Arrow of the Mist.
Have a super week Michelle!
It was rough lol, the next day I was like a zombie because with 2 kids and 1 big kid, it’s hard to sleep in. I find that the less pressure to get the books read and reviewed is making it a little easier to function 🙂
I was going to suggested to you to watch it, for some reason I think it would be something you would like. I am eager to watch the Volume 3 but it’s in separate videos on the website and I would prefer to watch all at one time however my curiosity is getting the better of me and I might just watch it. Really want to find out what happens.
They are both really good books, reading book two of Arrow of the Mist and it’s a little slow start but I have a feeling it will get good soon.
