Christmas, Clean Up and the tree is down~ WIR & TSP

Posted December 27, 2015 by Michelle in The Sunday Post, WIReadview / 17 Comments

WIR&TSPWeek in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, post a recap of the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

On the Blog & Real Life:

First let me apologize for the lack of commenting back on my blog. Christmas turned out to be a lot crazier than I expected, well the whole week was, I had so much more to do than I realized and I had one family member down. My husband has the touch of the flu and was pretty much a huge lump on the couch for 3 days (fingers crossed I don’t get it). He wasn’t able to come for Christmas Eve to my parents house and on Christmas he just didn’t move from the couch at all while everyone else enjoyed the day. Since he really helps me with everything I was pretty much on my own and didn’t have time to do much of anything but get prepared. On Saturday we realized now he has pink eye. So I have to clean the entire house to get the ick out so Saturday I took down the tree and today I plan to put everything else away which is very unlike me. In 41 years I have only felt this way one other time so I am hoping by next year I will feel like my old Christmas Elf Self. πŸ™‚

Even with the lack of spirit, I still had a nice time, loved spending time with the family and did get a lot of nice stuff. My parents got us a new Keurig Machine, the one with the carafe. I can’t wait to set it up and my mom got me an adorable Nutcracker reading. I now have a bunch of Amazon gift cards to buy books, YAY! and a lot of gift cards to get some stuff I need around the house. The kids and my husband got me a cute messenger bag with the Legends of Zelda Logo on it and a Nightmare before Xmas Mug and a Alice in wonderland glass cup. I loved it. My daughter also got me a beautiful bracelet from her Christmas shop from school.

I plan to spend the rest of today visiting blogs and getting organized with posts for the end of this year and next. This has been a long year and I am looking forward to the next chapter in my life, fingers crossed it’s a good one. πŸ™‚

  1. My tree’s not down yet, but the outside lights are. We’re due rain for the next few days, but I’m hoping the tree will be down before the 1st. Since we cart it out to the firepit and let it get really dry before sacrificing it for s’mores sometime in Feb or March, I need it to not rain at least for a little bit so my husband can drag it out there. lol

I love that nutcracker! Now I want one. lol

Lysol, Lysol, Lysol! *wipes down keyboard, mouse and monitor just in case lol)

    Happy New Year, Michelle!

  2. I saw the nutcracker on instagram and loved it! So cute! I have a nutcracker collection myself but while I have bunches of different ones I don’t have on reading. Must fix that! How awful to have your husband down like that. Hope he is feeling better and that he keeps his germs to himself! I’m curious about the Lcokwood & Co series. A podcast I listen to is doing the first one in the series next month and I’m looking forward to reading it. Have a great week and a fantastic New Year!

  3. I hope your husband is feeling better and you don’t get sick! You got a lot of fun gifts and have fun shopping with your gift cards. I’m on the waiting list with my library for the audiobook Hollow Boy. Lockwood & Co. is a fun series to listen to. I hope you are enjoying it. Have a Happy New Year and see you in 2016 =)

  4. Sounds like you had a crazy christmas with your husband beign sick. I do hope you still had a fun christmas beside that. That doesn’t sound like you to remove the tree so soon. Our still stands with presents underneath it as we haven’t been home enough to unpack them yet.

I saw your reading nutcracker on facebook, it looks great and sounds like the perfect gift for you. And yay for amazon gift cards! I got some money from my grandma and I already spent some on books. Have a great week!

  5. Oh no! I hope your husband recovers soon, and no one else gets sick! I spent Christmas Eve cleaning the man’s house (I Clorox wiped EVERYthing) before he comes home on Tuesday. All I have left to do is sweep the garage out and vacuum the bedroom…which I’ll probably do tomorrow. πŸ™‚

It looks like you had a wonderful Christmas, and I hope you have a happy New Year!

  6. I think those with families had a harder time blogging this week cause of Christmas, us single folk don’t have anything to do but blog…lol. Even though I like to give you a hard time about your Christmas count down I hope you are your old elf self next year too. πŸ™‚ Hope your husband gets to feeling better…poor guy. Enjoy your GCards and pick out some cool reads. πŸ™‚

    Happy reading,
    Stormi

  7. I think a lot of people are taking less time on blogs this week. There are also a lot less posts. Everyone wants to spend more time with their families. My family is in Alaska and didn’t come this year for Christmas, so it was just DH and me. We just relaxed and enjoyed the day. I love the nutcracker. I hope the pink eye clears up soon.

    • Last year I messed up and wasn’t ahead on the blog but this year, I am all set up to have post go while I enjoy the family. This week is back to normal since and I think I am looking forward to it. The kids are home so I can spend time with them and get some stuff done.

I hope the pink eye clears too because I do not want it. Last time I had it worse then everyone else and my eye HURT so bad. Fingers crossed it skips up πŸ™‚
