So we decided to go back to the basics for 2025. Let COYER be as simple as possible and just focus on the core – reading and reviewing great books in an ever greater community. And it’s been FANTASTIC. So fantastic that we want to keep doing it for 2026. It seems like our new community home in Discord has been the breath of fresh air we all were looking for. So with that… here’s what COYER 2026 is going to look like!
COYER Extended Lunch Break
COYER Reading Challenge
This is the reading challenge, where you add your reviews to the linky. COYER Out to Lunch will continue to be run primarily by Michelle. This year we will also try out sharing reviews to Discord to see if (1) it helps people keep up with them better and (2) might be possible to replace the linky. All reviews should be shared to the #coyer-2026-reviews channel.
This will be a year long challenge, going back to the old days of strict rules when only free and nearly free books count. No Chapters or Seasons just a year long challenge of Cleaning out your E-Reads!
- This includes review books, tour books, NetGalley, Edelweiss, etc.
- What’s nearly free? No more than $5 for eBooks and no more than $7.50 for Audiobooks (or the equivalent in your currency).
- This year Library ebooks and audiobooks will count – just no physical books.
Borrowed books (from friends), Kindle Unlimited, Amazon Prime Books, and Audible Plus Catalog books do not qualify. Basically if somehow you/a friend had to pay to get access to it, it does not count. It hardly needs to be said, but to be clear- pirated books also don’t qualify! We’re here to support authors not steal from them.
wWe will have three check ins throughout the year so you can link up any progress, either in a post or a challenge page (however you keep track) the post will be in the month of March, June & September.
COYER Community
This is all the extras we do in the Discord group and will be run primarily by Berls and Lillian. Like the reading Challenge, Community is going to continue with it’s laid back pace and a year long challenge with 1 giveaway widget.
If you are part of the COYER community on Discord you will still have readathons, regular prompts and the read-along chats.

Announce your participation! This can be a blog post (or if you don’t have a blog – Mastodon, Hive, Instagram, TikTok, Goodreads, etc.) If you want to list books you would like to read, that’s great, but not necessary. The point is to let everyone know you’re committed to COYER Extended Lunch Break, maybe share some goals, and help spread the word. Not sure how to do your post? When is the first readathon?
I’m in again! And I’ll try to remember to share my reviews to the COYER review channel, but I can barely remember to put them on the challenge linky, let alone on my own social media. I like the idea of the channel; I’m just not great at keeping up with all the places I should be posting links. But I’ll try!
