So this year is a little different when it comes to Christmas Traditions but for me it’s ok, I count it as just taking a break and will resume all regular Christmas Traditions next year, pandemic or not! Christmas is my FAVORITE time of year, when Christmas is over I start a count down until the next Christmas. I love the magic and coziness that comes with the Christmas Spirit. I also love when my house is decorated!
One of my many traditions is the collecting of Nutcrackers, I get at least one a year. I love when they are different but still have that Christmas vibe. So maybe it’s not a true tradition but it’s something I do every year for Christmas.
Since this year is very different from other years, one tradition that will be back next year is the baking of the Christmas Cookies, We go to my moms house and spend the weekend backing dozens and dozens of cookies to give out to family and friends. It’s honestly my favorite and probably the weekend I gain the most weight! 😉 (pictures of from last year but they are pretty much the same cookies every year)
One other tradition we have was the Elf on the Shelf but now that my kids are older we change the way we use him. Each year he start in the tree, one of us is the first to hide him then from now until Christmas, whoever finds him has to hide him without anyone else knowing. They can then announce they found him so the rest of us can keep looking and the last person that hide him can start looking too. This is one of my favorite things to do even though my husband complains and cheats. Whoever hides him last, if we can’t find him by Christmas Eve, that person “wins” and place the Elfie back in the Christmas Tree. I love this new tradition! I hope we never stop playing no matter how much my husband complains!
What are some of your family traditions?

I don’t actually own a nutcracker! That makes me sad… I feel like I need at least one. Maybe next year if the Christmas Markets etc are back open I’ll finally bring one home. 🙂
I’m making Christmas Cookies today! We really don’t need any more food, especially when it’s just the 3 of us this year, but I’m making them anyway and I’ll worry about the weight next year! 😉
Those thumbprint cookies look delicious! One of these days I’m going to get around to baking cookies!! Your traditions are wonderful and I love how your family has adapted Elf on the Shelf!
Your Christmas tree is SO beautiful! I don’t have many traditions personally but I do watch The Nightmare Before Christmas on Christmas Day every year. ^_^
What a pretty tree. And I like your Nutcracker collection. I’m with you – I also view this differences this Christmas as a temporary blip and have faith that things will be back to normal next year.
Fun Nutcraker collection! I have a shelf of snowmen and one of angels that others started giving me and I never intended to collect at first. LOL
I love your Elf on a Shelf Hide N Seek game. 🙂
