two-stars

Nicholas Ford, a successful club owner in his mid-thirties, decided a while back to deny his Daddy nature in order to follow his family’s advice and settle down. The day before he is to attend his girlfriend’s sister’s wedding, he makes an appearance at his BDSM club and runs into Kayla, a bubbly Little Girl who captures his undivided attention. Look but don’t touch, Nicholas tells himself. What he doesn’t know is that Kayla’s in town to go to her cousin’s wedding…

My top thoughts:

The writing is good and the characters were solid, for a short. Problem was – this was my first “Daddy Porn” book and it turns out, it is so NOT my thing. It weirded me out and was kind of disturbing for me. No judgment on those who like it, I can see what could appeal, it just doesn’t for me. Perhaps because I’m a Kinder teacher and am around children all the time? Perhaps because I have MAJOR father issues? Whatever the reason, I don’t think I’ll be trying another daddy book any time soon, if ever. I do think this one had quality writing and if it’s your thing – or you think it might be – it’s a good book to pick up.

Who I think would like it:

Anyone who likes to get adventurous with their erotica or already knows that “daddy porn” is their flavor of kink 🙂

I will give one warning – their is also the element of cheating in this book and while it didn’t bother me because the hero already was in the process of ending the relationship, that could be a no-go for some readers.

Narrator thoughts:

Tor Thom did a good job with the voices – he really delivers a sexy hero for sure. And his female voices worked in a way that some male narrators don’t manage.

Podcast thoughts:

I think this week was fun because of the history that Alexa Riley has with this book and author – it’s what got them writing together in the first place. So I found that super interesting, even if the book didn’t do it for me. And even though I didn’t love the book, I’m glad I tried it and now now that daddy porn isn’t my thing. You don’t know if you don’t try it!

four-half-stars

Piper has been crushing on Ryder for years. What better chance to make her move than when he’s sacrificing himself to the squealing masses at a charity auction? Too bad she’d rather chug nails than actually bid on a guy who doesn’t know she exists. Or so she thinks…

In a twist of fate, Piper wins Ryder at the auction, but she never collects.

Now he’s determined to find out why.

My top thoughts:

Loved this one and will definitely be looking for more from Sara Ney. I loved the heroine’s timidness and I loved the friendship between her and her roommate. It also got very sexy and steamy! My only complaint – the ending! I want more, it felt like a cliff and a HFN nor a HEA… So hopefully there is more of their story to come.

Who I think would like it:

If you like innocent, sweet characters, you’ll enjoy Piper. And if you like reading about friendships, you’ll enjoy her dynamic with her roommate.

Narrator thoughts:

Felicity Munroe & Jason Clarke were enjoyable narrators and I would listen to them again. I listen at 2x and found that translated well. I also think they complimented each other well – switching between parts wasn’t jarring.

Podcast thoughts:

I used to have a hard time with Tessa only weeks, not because I don’t like her – I love her – but because I missed the back and forth of conversation. That has changed since she started reading listener emails. It creates more of a conversational feel to her days and I really enjoy them.

4.5 stars I loved it
