Tell Me Something Tuesday was hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings, but she has (temporarily?) stopped blogging. So a group of us that had been doing posts (Linda from Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, Karen from For What It’s Worth, Roberta from Offbeat YA, Jen from That’s What I’m Talking About and me) decided to get together, come up with some more topics and keep the meme going.Michelle made us a logo and we’re off and running. For more details, check out this post where I reintroduced the meme.
I can be sporadic, but when I do join in I will always share next week’s topic at the end of the post. So, today is about…
Resolutions/words of the year – do you do them? What are they for 2022?
Yes and no. I am a constant goal setter, I don’t just do it at the start of the year. But I do see the start of a new year as a great opportunity to have a fresh slate and also really evaluate what I’m doing well and need to improve upon. So at the end of each year I review my goals (which I do to a lesser extent at the end of each month and each week), and update them. I also like to write new affirmations each year. And I do come up with a theme word for the year, which is also the the theme for my bullet journal for the year.
This year, my word is “warrior.” I feel like I haven’t been doing as well with my goals in recent years because I’m fighting a battle against a lot of factors – including this damn pandemic – and I need to a warrior’s mentality if I’m going to make my goals a reality this year. I bought a Morse code bracelet with the word warrior on it as well, so that I have a constant reminder.
I recently posted pictures of all my bullet journal pages, along with my affirmations and such for 2022, if you’d like to see them on Instagram – I’m very proud of how the pages turned out.
Warrior is such a great word! I wouldn’t have thought of that one but I really like it. No word for me this year. I tried it once and forgot my word half way through and then tried again unofficially in 2020; then the pandemic hit and my word went out the window–or maybe that was the lesson of the year–I thought I needed more of it in my life and suddenly I felt like I had none. One of those, “you thought it was bad before? Just wait!” type things. Since then, I just take in everyone else’s words and wish I had thought of them for myself.
LOL well you can always borrow a word if you feel like it speaks to you! But I do know what you mean, sometimes life has a funny way of getting worse to just show you that things weren’t actually so bad! I feel like setting goals in this environment is very challenging, but a word is a bit easier for me.
So weird… I just left a comment but it’s not here. Anyhow, I really like your word, Warrior. I have always seen you as a warrior and I’m excited that you are embracing it. Happy New Year.
I agree, very weird, because I feel like I remember replying at least once – maybe twice! But thank you! I appreciate you saying that – I’m hoping this year I’ll remember I do have a warrior in me to get through the tougher times 🙂
You are already a warrior! Your days are so hectic, I don’t know how you manage to get everything done and face every challenge that life throws at you.
Thank you so much Roberta! I feel like I need to be reminded that I can be a warrior for my goals and not give up when things don’t work out perfectly. I am a recovering perfectionist lol
I see goals like a life map so I set them, too. I got away from word of the year and now you have me enthused to come up with one. Love your ‘go-get it done’ warrior word.
I like setting a word of the year to set a tone, that way when my goals don’t necessarily work out as planned (because life happens in unexpected ways!) I can still embrace the spirit of them by focusing on the word. Sometimes it works out better than others! I’d love to hear the word you settle on, if you do it!
I like your word! Rock on!
Thank you Victoria! I’m hoping it will keep me motivated this year!
Love it! Makes you want to charge through it all triumphantly!
I’m more of a word person myself. I suck at concrete goals lol

Thank you! LOL I like goals, but words are definitely better at helping embrace a mood and I find them more achievable.
You always do so much. I’m awed by how much you manage. I’m rooting for you all the time.
Thank you Anne <3 I look forward to the day when I don't need to do so much! But until then, I just need to warrior through!
I love your word! And I’m sure you’ll rock this year. 😀
Thank you Stephanie! I hope so!
Awesome word! Good luck with your goals.
Thank you AJ! I’m hopeful that this year will be much better than the last couple!
What a great word! That really sets a tone for the year and instills a sense of “you’ve got this.”
Thank you! That’s my hope. I love the constant reminder that I can do it if I just don’t give up when things get tough and ugly or I “screw up” (I’m a perfectionist so that’s part of the battle lol)!
