Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at The Broke and the Bookish. They love to share lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
TenEight books I recently gave up on
I had a recent string of really bad luck with books… unfortunately a few of them were highly anticipated and they just didn’t work for me π On the other hand, I could only come up with 8, so that’s a good thing, right?
Did you have a better experience with any of these?
Michelle adopted me as part of her blog when I decided to close down my blog, Fantasy is More Fun. The blog was dying, but my love of reading and the blogosphere was still strong as ever - so I found my new home here at Because Reading!
I'm not just a book lover, but a one time author (that hopes to be more in the future), wife, mom to the cutest, happiest, best 2 year old and step-mom to the craziest, sweetest 22 year old on the planet. My family mean everything to me and they appear frequently in the Sunday Post with Berls. So grab a glass of wine and chat books, blogging, and family with me!
Sorry you had to give up on these books. The Fall of the Night has a great cover. I’m sorry it was slow. I’ve not read any of these, but that is the one that really caught my eye. I’m sure you’re very shocked.
Felicia loves that series, so you may want to give it a try, despite my not loving it. It just wasn’t my cup of tea. I totally agree, the cover is great. And book 1 was good – it just lost momentum for me with 2.
Oh, that is a bummer that you have had such rotten luck. π I actually didn’t even know half of those books…lol. So guess I am not missing anything. There was only one I had read and I really liked it the Jill Shalvis one. π
I think I’ve given up on Sarah Morgan. I mean all of her books have been okay but I’ve only really liked 2 and was just meh on the rest. That’s too bad about the Shalvis. She’s a favorite but not every book can be a winner.
I seem to go thru phases… everything I read is a winner, or I have a period where every other book just doesn’t sit well with me. Just last week I gave up on Mercury Striking by Rebecca Zanetti. I was 40% in before I realized I just didn’t care what happened. LOL

The Jill Shalvis book was really disappointing, in part because I expected to like it so much π it may have been a timing issue.

I agree, Shalvis is a favorite – it may have been a bad timing thing :/ That was my first Sarah Morgan, but I’m not feeling inspired to try more.

Lol I do the same thing. Uh oh about Mercury Striking – that’s a book on my #2017hw… Fingers crossed I have better luck!
Some of these are ones I really want to read. Haha. I haven’t read any on your list yet though. I hope you are having a better week this week!
Thanks, so far so good! I think some of them were timing, so hopefully they’ll work better for you!
Oh no! Sorry to hear Lila’s second book wasn’t as strong as the first one. I still need to read that one too for that matter!
Stop by my post if you have the time!
Old Follower π
I was so bummed about that one Jessica π I liked the first book so much. I hope you have better luck!
I think I’ve seen Furthermore as one that others have had trouble with too.
I’ve seen that too. So sad, because I love her writing style and her YA series. I’m keeping the book because it’s pretty and signed lol
