BOOK ONE:
Barbie Girl (Baby Doll #1) by Heidi Acosta
Publication date: November 1st 2012
Genre: YA Contemporary Romance

Synopsis:
The only thing that 17 year old Barbie Starr wants to do is graduate high school so she and her little brother, Everett, can get out of Alabama. She doesn’t care about the rumors that are spread around about her like wild fire. Rumors are nothing new to her. Sure, maybe she could change her reputation, but why bother. She is leaving Alabama as soon as she can. That is, if she can pass algebra and graduate.

The only thing Dylan Knight would like to do is go through high school unnoticed; he has had enough of the drama that is high school. He took the whole of last summer to bulk-up: finally he is not being called names or being shoved into lockers. He wants to remain on the outside of the circle of constant rumors that surround the so-called popular kids who get all the attention. He would not, however, mind if his long time crush Katie took notice of him.

But it is Barbie who notices Dylan and she offers him a deal he can’t pass up: if he helps her pass algebra, she’ll help him get the girl of his dreams. Dylan agrees, but, as it turns out, nothing is simple when it comes to Barbie. Somehow, she can’t help but draw attention to herself — and to him. Soon Dylan finds himself tossed into the whirlwind of rumors that seem to follow Barbie everywhere. Can he save his reputation and still get the girl of his dreams? Or will Barbie be the one to break through his carefully-built facade?

My review:
I will start off and say yes if you read any of the other review she does have a few typos and grammatical errors, I’m sure I will too, but this does not take away from how great this story is.
Dylan and Barbie are amazing characters the book is written in both POVs. It usually doesn’t work for me but in this case it did.
Barbie is a very strong character that will break your heart. Reading about everything she goes through you almost want to jump in the book and give her a hug.
Dylan is a dork (hahaha) he is one of those kids that you don’t really notice unless others take interest. I will be honest and say I wanted to smack him sometimes. As described in the book he sees the world in Black & White and since I am a gray person this made me want to shake him and make him snap out of it 🙂 He also was very wrong to judge Barbie and listen to what everyone else told her instead of forming his own opinion because when he does it’s really to late.
The story starts off with Barbie who is trying so hard to get through school so she can take her little brother (Everett) away from a Mother who drinks and does drugs. She could careless about her kids (her I wanted to punch in the face) So Barbie asks Dylan if he can tutor her in Algebra and she will in return help him get the girl of his dreams Katie.  Dylan isn’t very happy with this arrangement since Barbie is the town slut and has a very bad reputation what is surrounded by rumors (only rumors?) Soon Dylan agrees as they work together they realize they are starting to feel something for each other.
I loved the idea that Dylan was the good guy and the forbidden love was Barbie. Most of the books I have read has always been the complete opposite so this was a refreshing change.
The secondary characters were great. I really loved Third and Roxie. I could live without Katie 😉
This story breaks your heart. Watching everything unfold it really makes you feel so bad for both Barbie and her brother. I will warn you that the end and the event that unfold are very upsetting at least for me. Barbies brother has special needs and he reminds me to a point of my son (who also has special needs) when he was young. It’s so hard to watch a mom not care about her son  when after everything I went through to get my son the help he needed this story really made my heart hurt that I was in tears. Watching what her boyfriend does to her kids I was shocked, How can a mom allow that? It is mind boggling!!!
I completely recommend this book. If you can get past the errors that are throughout and just enjoy the book as I did you will realize how amazing  and well developed these characters are also you can feel the emotions and physical attraction between Barbie and Dylan. It really makes you want to know more. Now on to book #2 🙂

BOOK TWO:

Barbie World (Baby Doll #2) by Heidi Acosta
Publication date: Summer 2013
Genre: YA Contemporary Romance

Synopsis:
“One Night is all it took to change everything between Barbie and me. One night to potentially lose the girl of my dreams forever. How do I prove to her that she can trust me? That all I want to do is protect her carefully guarded heart. I need to prove to her that I want to be a part of her world. But How? ”

Dylan lost Barbie once before, now he is determined more than ever to win her heart and trust back. Easier said than done, especially with the new hot guy in town who is in a rock band and is the complete opposite of Dylan.

Barbie has been hurt beyond repair or so she thinks. It would be easier for heart to decide if she didn’t have to protect her little brother. And if Dylan would just put on a shirt! Dylan is not making this easy on her. It helps to have the distraction of the new guy in town cute bad boy Kai. But even though her heart is damaged it still knows what it wants.

When Barbie learns she has a family and with the help of Roxie and Kai, oh and Third and Dylan. They embark on a journey to help bring Barbie closer to a past she never knew existed.

Heidi Acosta brings you the heart felt story of friendship, love and heartbreak in the second book in of the Baby doll series Barbie World.

My Review:

This book starts off about were the last book left off. Barbie is still trying to deal with her feelings for Dylan & come to terms with what happened that night with her mom and Ronnie. She can’t risk anything because she needs to keep Everett safe. Now her mom is in jail and Ronnie has disappeared.
She is still living with the Knights and having Dylan so close is like torture. The more they try to ignore it the more they realize how strong there feeling are for each other. There is just so much in the way keeping them apart.

This book find Barbie searching for something she never though she would have….family. Roxie, Third, Dylan & Barbie plus a handsome new friend Kai find themselves on a road trip to find the family she never thought she had and get the answers she so desperately needs.

Dylan drove me completely insane and Barbie had her moments when I wanted to tell her to just get over it. But once again this book is heartwarming & emotional. You can feel the sexual tension between the characters while cheered them on and felt their pain.

This is really a great read. Hanging with some old friends and meeting some new ones. I liked how the end kinds of wrapped it all up in a little bow.

This is really worth the read. Both books were amazing and I strongly recommend. Mrs. Acosta is a fantastic story teller and I can’t wait to read more from her in the future.

AUTHOR BIO
Heidi Acosta was born on Long Island, New York. Moving around a lot when she was younger, she has lived in New York, Arizona, New York (again), Washington, Georgia, and Florida, in that order. Each place offered her something special, but she will always consider New York her home.

Heidi started writing as soon as she could spell. When she was three, Heidi’s mother gave her a copy of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House in the Big Woods; thus beginning her lifelong love affair with literature.

Writing soon also became a form of therapy for Heidi, when she realized that no matter what was happening in her life, she could find emotional escape while writing. Some of her earliest stories featured her as a princess who explored new worlds with her horse Buttercup. If it sounds romantic, it wasn’t, there was no prince charming in those fairy lands (boys where yucky).

Heidi now resides in Florida with her husband, very active daughter, one hyper Chihuahua, two sweet cats, and one very fat moody cat.
