Holly Jolly Saturday: Christmas Movies

Posted December 19, 2020 by Berls in Holly Jolly Saturday / 12 Comments

Around Because Reading, the holidays are our favorite time of year. And Christmas is like our favorite of favorites. So we’re having some Holly Jolly Saturdays, bringing you a holiday topic every Saturday in December.

Holly Jolly Christmas Movies

Michelle’s favorite Christmas movies

I have a LOT more but I kept it simple. My new favorite is The Christmas Chronicles, it was so fun and I got to see it for the first time this year. I also watched the second one which I thought was super cute too. The Preacher’s Wife will always be one of my favorite movies, I always cry.

I am upset that Charlie brown wont be on regular TV but I am trying to find a way to watch it since I hate to miss it. And of course Hallmark movies are my favorite but the last 4 listed are my absolute favorite! What are some of your favorites?

Berls’s favorite Christmas Movies

I LOVE Christmas movies. Hallmark Christmas movies are a favorite of the season (all though I’m seriously neglecting them this year!). I’ve been teased relentlessly by my brother and husband for how predictable the movies are. I don’t care. I love the happy predictable Christmas fun. Here’s some of my favorites – including some classics, some more recent hilarity, and some  Hallmark. As you’ll note, I either like to laugh my ass off or get hit with some serious sappiness.

Have a Holly Jolly Saturday and enjoy our Christmas movie recommendations!

  1. Normally I love Hallmark movies BECAUSE they’re so predictable but this year I haven’t really watched any of them. I think I am going to try and watch one of my favorite classic (and underrated in my opinion!) movies It Happened on Fifth Avenue soon though.

    • I’m the same way – give me that predictability! I also haven’t watched as many this year though. I hope you get to enjoy your favorite 🙂

  2. Berls – I LOVED Bad Moms Christmas! I saw it at the cinema with a bunch of friends a couple of years ago and laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe at some parts. Home Alone… Elf… They’re festive regulars in this house.

Michelle – Only one I’ve seen from your list is The Christmas Chronicles but I really enjoyed it!

  3. There are several classic that I’ve never even seen (much to my mother’s dismay LOL). Like White Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street. Just never had any desire to see them. I have seen a couple Hallmark movies this month and my favorite was Deliver By Christmas. Loved that one!

  4. I do love Charlie Brown and Home Alone movies, but I am ore of a classic movie watcher so Its A Wonderful Life is my favorite along side A Christmas Gift with John Denver.

  5. Michelle I think you missed your chance for Charlie Brown this year. 😢 I’m sad that another show has gone to exclusive streaming rights.

I love Elf and National Lampoon’s Christmas vacation for comedy and It’s a Wonderful Life for the feels. Or Family Stone for modern feels. I need to watch more Christmas stuff though.

  6. My favorites are still the oldies like It’s A Wonderful Life, Christmas in Connecticut, White Christmas, etc, but Christmas Vacation, Home Alone, Charlie Brown Christmas, and Hallmark’s A Christmas Card are annual watches, too. Maybe your library through Overdrive or Hulu has Charlie Brown Christmas, Michelle.

Fun seeing what made your lists. Thanks!

  7. I also watched The Christmas Chronicles for the first time this year and loved it! But I really love any movie where Santa gets arrested, i.e. Bad Santa and The Santa Clause.

My other Christmas faves are Jingle All the Way, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, and I’ll Be Home For Christmas. I’m stuck in the ’90s, obviously.
