Mini #Bloggiesta Goals ~ Update

Posted January 19, 2015 by Michelle in Bloggiesta / 30 Comments

Bloggiesta-MiniW15It’s Mini Bloggiesta from Jan 17th to Jan 19th.

This is chance to do all those blogging things you have been putting off. Setting time aside to work from the start of the day to the end of the day on nothing but organizing, setting up posts or whatever you want to get done. This is one of my favorite motivators and I am so excited to be doing it again.

I will be doing Jan 17th and 18th since I don’t have off on Monday and will try to finish off Bloggiesta after work on Monday but I will have to see how it goes. I recently redesigned my blog and have been pretty happy with how it looks so I think most of my goals this time will be organizing off the blog and if I have time I will do a few things on the blog or save it for the next Bloggiesta.

I have decided this year to have my blog go through a few changes but of course I always do this without thinking ahead and now am totally unorganized. I have a few pages that need to be fixed on my blog but I am going to do the outside stuff first. So here is my list of goals I would like to get started during this Mini Bloggiesta

By the way all updates will be done on this post, you can find the link to it in the challenges tab under my header.

GOALS!!!

  1. Β Book Spreadsheet ~ So I made a pretty spreadsheet for my books so I can catalog them all with where I got them and when they will be released. I would like to actually fill in the books now πŸ™‚ Got a lot of my books in the spreadsheet and will finish more today very excited about the layout of the spreadsheet, if anyone is interested in it let me know I will be happy to email it to you. I have an excel file and a Numbers file.
  2. Organize Goodreads ~ I haven’t been using it to my best ability and I think I could find it more helpful if I took sometime to organize and go through all the books and shelves I have. I did a bunch of new shelves and deleted about 195 books off my TBR pile that was added when I first opened goodreads, I am now making it for just books I own and books I really want to read, I would rather have a few books I will read then a ton of books that I will most likely never read.
  3. Organize Posts ~ This one is hard to explain since I want to come put with posts and set a schedule for them since I tend to say I want to do a post and never do it. So this is setting posts in my calendar (planner and Google Cal) This can be anything from Review posts to App Reviews posts to maybe that random post I have always wanted to write. I just realized I did some of this already. I wrote down a LOT of ideas and will now start to schedule stuff in my Calendars. I have a lot of ideas floating in my head while I was organizing #1 and #2 so when they popped in my head I wrote them down πŸ™‚
  4. Fix those pages ~ I have a few pages that need updating and some changes. About me, Review Policy and set up my Design Page for Limabean Designs with a contact form so people can start contacting me if they are interested in having a design done by me πŸ™‚ going to have to put this off till next weekend since I am not sure I will be able to get to it before Bloggiesta is over but I will get to it πŸ™‚

I think for now that is it. If I think of anything else I will add to this but for the two days that I will working this might be all I can really do.

Wrap Up! 1/19/15

This was a VERY productive Bloggiesta and I am very happy with my progress and has really made me more motivated. I didn’t complete every thing but I made a huge step in the right direction and have a lot accomplished to keep me rolling for some time. I am so happy I figured out the spreadsheet and organized Goodreads! I also made so many notes and ideas, now I just need to write them and get them posted. I set up all my review posts and just need to schedule them. I have a bunch of stuff started and plan to continue since I am totally on a roll πŸ™‚ This was a great Bloggiesta and I can not wait for the next one! See you in March!!!

  1. You had a very nice to do list and good job on completing what you did. I never would have thought about fixing my goodreads bookshelves, mine are just all over the place probably. And good job on the spreadsheet. That is probably a very useful tool when you have so many books to juggle. Congrats on what you completed!

  2. You’re doing great!! I needed this but just really didn’t have the time πŸ™ I need to do my author page asap too, so things I need to do for the blog are getting pushed back right now. Good luck finishing up!

  3. You got some great goals listed there, hope you can achieve them all! I did some reoganizing of my goodreads shelves lately and it’s really handy when all your books are on the righ shelves.
I colour code all my posts on my google calendar and sometimes when I have a post idea I just put it down in pink for a certain date and then change it to purple once I actually wrote and scheduled it. It really helps to just put it down on acertain date as it feels like a deadline/ promise to myself and it helps me get those posts written in time.
And yes get started on that Limabean design page, so I can refer people to it πŸ˜‰

Good luck with all your goals!

    • I should have started the organizing thing when I started blogging, my shelves are a mess and my TBR list of ARC is just getting longer and the dates are just passing me by. It stresses me out and blogging isn’t suppose to be stressful lol.

I have a google calendar that is very colorful also, I even write it all in my planning book just for back up.
I have started the Design page just need to update it again and add some examples πŸ™‚

    • Bloggiesta is the best when you get that I don’t want to feeling, this makes you want to. I am looking forward to at least starting these projects even if I don’t get them completed I just want them started

    • I only have 2 days really, I might jump ahead and start on Friday. It was hard to figure out what I wanted to do first, most of this stuff I want to just start and get moving along since I haven’t done any of it yet.

    • Thanks Katrina, If you have excel or Mac Numbers, When I figure out how I want to organize my spreadsheet I would have no problem sending it to you. Then you can adjust it and fill in your books. Let me know πŸ™‚

I understand about Goodreads. I love it for finding book info, but it is hard to keep it all organized. I actually prefer Library Thing for organizing. I like the idea of ‘category’ AND ‘tags’. But I don’t think it is as easy to find a review, and it certainly isn’t as ‘pretty’ to look at.

    • I actually came up with a system to get it to work for me. I didn’t realize until last year that the area (read/want to read/currently reading) can be added too. So that make things much easier plus I changed the way I use it to books I have already and some I may want to read instead of want to read. (does that make sense?)
