Tell Me Something Tuesday was hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings, but she has (temporarily?) stopped blogging. So a group of us that had been doing posts (Linda from Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, Karen from For What It’s Worth, Roberta from Offbeat YA, Jen from That’s What I’m Talking About and me) decided to get together, come up with some more topics and keep the meme going.Michelle made us a logo and we’re off and running. For more details, check out this post where I reintroduced the meme.
I can be sporadic, but when I do join in I will always share next week’s topic at the end of the post. So, today is about…
What are your favorite tips and/or tools to help keep your blogging organized?
I’m one of those extremely Type A people who organizes EVERYTHING. But the real trick to being organized is keeping it simple, so I don’t have a ton of tips and tools. If the system is too complicated, I’ll never stick to it.
For blogging, my system is pretty simple. Michelle and I have a shared Google Calendar with several color coded categories (Berls, Michelle, Because Challenges, Both posting, COYER Readathons, COYER Challenge, and Social Media). We each have our standard weekdays – I’m Tuesdays, Thursdays, and every other Friday. Then we both post for My TBR List and Sunday Posts. So we have our schedule. When I’ve scheduled a post, I change the color to grey so I know it’s ready.
I recently did a massive overhaul of my Goodreads shelves and that’s helped me to be really organized in my blogging too. Since describing i in a previous TMST post, I’ve added a shelf for books I’ve requested for review as well.
I also have started making sure that I always write a review before I starting the next book. I write my reviews on Goodreads and I have a shelf for books that I haven’t yet reviewed on the blog.
That’s about all I do to organize my blogging. Pretty simple, right?
I’m not super organized. I just use an editorial calendar plugin within WordPress and hope I remember to check it lol
“I’m one of those extremely Type A people who organizes EVERYTHING. But the real trick to being organized is keeping it simple”.
Apparently, I missed the memo un the second part LOL.
“I also have started making sure that I always write a review before I starting the next book.”
That’s good advice.
*”ON the second part”…
I love color-coding my spreadsheets. And my IRL family calendar!! I’m so type A, I can’t function without schedules and calendars!
That is too funny. Books of My Heart also uses a shared Google calendar where we each have our days and colors. And I change it to GREY when it is scheduled! I have my own spreadsheet for myself and also use Goodreads for a bunch of things.
Keeping any organizational methods simple is good advice. I use a color-coded calendar, too. I also rely on a few spreadsheet pages and try to keep my GoodReads shelves up to date so I know what I have. Good idea to also track the requests.
How do you keep your blogging organized? Big assumption to think I’m organized at all. 😂
