Tell Me Something Tuesday

Tell Me Something Tuesday was hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings, but she has (temporarily?) stopped blogging. So a group of us that had been doing posts (Linda from Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, Karen from For What It’s Worth, Roberta from Offbeat YA, Jen from That’s What I’m Talking About  and me) decided to get together, come up with some more topics and keep the meme going.Michelle made us a logo and we’re off and running. For more details, check out this post where I reintroduced the meme.

I can be sporadic, but when I do join in I will always share next week’s topic at the end of the post. So, today is about…

Mid-Year Update: What have you been up to?

I accidentally scheduled this post for July 6th, so it’s going up late. The ONE TIME I’m ahead and end up behind…

It’s kind of hard to believe it’s only been 6 months. While 2021 is MOST DEFINITELY better than 2020, it’s still been a year of lots of ups and downs, lots of emotions and challenges for me. And it’s very hard to sum up in a single post – I share details of my life from week to week every week in the Sunday Post. But here’s some highlights:

Work:

Work transitioned from 1 day a week in person in February to full time in person in May. So Dante is back to daycare and we’ve transitioned to something resembling life before COVID. I was promoted in February and my job has actually become much easier. I have so much extra time that I’ve started teaching myself coding. I’ve also decided to enroll in community college in the fall (despite having an AA, 2 BAs and an MA) because there is always more to learn… plus I could continue to defer my student loans 🙂

Family:

Dante is growing so fast. He’s now 21 months and I’m busy trying to figure out what we’ll do for his 2nd birthday (since his first birthday was at the height of the pandemic this will be our first big to-do). He’s transitioned so well to daycare (after some weeks of tears and lots of getting sick thanks to reintroduction to germs after a year of quarantine) and I couldn’t be more in love.

Franky (stepson) is now 21 and amazes me all the time with how grown he is… while also how young and inexperienced at the same time. He still keeps us on our toes, but I’m super proud of the young man he’s grown into.

Kiko and I celebrated our 16 year anniversary in April. Hard to believe we’ve been together for so long!

My brother Philip and his partner Zach continue to be my best friends and strongest support system. They are the most amazing guncles and Dante adores them.

That’s a very quick overview of the highlights in my life the past 6 months!

What about you? What are some highlights?

Next week’s topic: How do you approach writing reviews?

It's #TMST & Berls wants to know: What are some highlights of the past 6 months? Share on X

  1. 16 years! Congrats 😀

Ack, yes bdays now are so and so, my kid’s 3r and 4th were not that busy, but when they are so small they just want cake lol

  2. Jen

Yea for starting to feel a bit “normal” again. We are good at my end. I’m thankful we are all vaccinated. Kids went back to school in person back in January. My son got to play varsity lacrosse, but then got a stress fracture in his leg and missed the second half of the season. My daughter did a solo in her dance recital and she’s super pumped for dance to start back up in the fall.

I envy you! and I admire your drive. Going back to school and all that.

Congrats on having an amazing family and support system…again, you’re so lucky LOL.
