Tell Me Something Tuesday was hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings, but she has (temporarily?) stopped blogging. So a group of us that had been doing posts (Linda from Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, Karen from For What It’s Worth, Roberta from Offbeat YA, Jen from That’s What I’m Talking About and me) decided to get together, come up with some more topics and keep the meme going.Michelle made us a logo and we’re off and running. For more details, check out this post where I reintroduced the meme.
I can be sporadic, but when I do join in I will always share next week’s topic at the end of the post. So, today is about…
Do you have any pets? Tell us about them (past or present)
I had pets my whole childhood, but they were really always my mom’s cats. And I am not a cat person. I love all animals and want them to be cared for, but I would never choose a cat as my pet. So I thought I didn’t want pets of my own as an adult.
And then I was around dogs as an adult. Turns out, I am a dog person. And I wanted one really badly. My husband (boyfriend at the time) also cared for animals but didn’t want a pet. And I begged him to reconsider for a couple years. Then, he had a chance to rescue a chihuahua terrier puppy. He called me to know if I was interested, saying it was going to be a lot of money and work because she was in bad shape. Well, I was 100% in.
And that’s how we got Buffy (named for Buffy the Vampire Slayer of course!). She’s about 9 years old now and she’s wonderful. She does have food aggression and doesn’t warm to people quickly, which is fair, given her start in life. But once you’re one of her people, she loves the hell out of you. I was nervous about how she’d respond to Dante – would she be jealous? Would she be aggressive towards him? – but they are the best of friends and she plays with him so gently. She clearly knows how important he is. It probably doesn’t hurt that he both accidentally and purposefully feeds her at pretty much every meal LOL!
I feel bad, because she doesn’t get the attention she did before Dante, but she’s definitely a part of our family and a wee-bit spoiled. I can tell she’s getting older and it makes me sad. I hope we have a long time left with her.

Those pics of Buffy with Dante are so sweet! It’s almost like she’s looking after her tiny human like a big sister would LOL.
I’m a dog person (though I like cats, or the more friendly ones at least!), but never had one. I wouldn’t have the time and energy (and money) to care for one. But I pet other people’s dogs LOL.
Buffy is such a love. That picture of Buffy kissing Dante is the best. I’m so glad they are buddies!
What a sweet gal and so glad you could bring her home and give her a family. I grew up with dogs, cats, and fish. Right now we have two cats though we want a large dog when we save up for a fenced yard.
Buffy is adorable and I love the name (one of my favorite tv shows 😍). I have a 5 year old French bulldog that I adopted in May 2020, I also have a bunny, 2 parakeets and a canary.
