Tell Me Something Tuesday was hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings, but she has (temporarily?) stopped blogging. So a group of us that had been doing posts (Linda from Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, Karen from For What It’s Worth, Roberta from Offbeat YA, Jen from That’s What I’m Talking About and me) decided to get together, come up with some more topics and keep the meme going.Michelle made us a logo and we’re off and running. For more details, check out this post where I reintroduced the meme.
I can be sporadic, but when I do join in I will always share next week’s topic at the end of the post. So, today is about…
Do you prefer movies or TV series?
I honestly don’t have a lot of time for TV/movies in general. That said, I think I prefer TV series, for a few reasons.
- The longer duration of several episodes and seasons allows for better character development and more thorough plot development
- Even though TV series are longer than movies IN TOTAL, they require much less time commitment in one sitting.
- Variety — in the same amount of time that I give to a single movie, I can watch a few episodes of different shows and thus get a lot more variety.
- Required focus…. This may not be true, but I tend to watch TV while doing something else. Eating dinner, cooking, blogging, etc and I don’t feel like I can do that with movies. For a movie, I feel like I need to settle in and focus on the movie. I think it’s because of the way movies cram so much into a short span and if you’re not focused you miss something.
So yeah, I’m more of a TV series person. I do enjoy a nice date night movie though!
Great perspective. I don’t seem to find much time for either though.
I like both but I like series a bit more because I feel like I can squeeze in the shorter episodes here and there or binge if I wanted. Options lol
I’m actually not much of a TV/movie watcher at all. But if I’d had to pick I’d go with a movie. Watch and it’s done. Move on. lol I hate feeling tied to the TV in order to follow a series. I chafe at that and lose interest quickly. I’d almost always rather be reading. 🙂
Great answer! I put that I enjoy both, because I do. However, I agree with every single thing you wrote. I definitely watch way more TV shows than movies. And movies tend to be for the weekend nights because of the time commitment. Perfectly said, Berls!
