Tell Me Something Tuesday was hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings, but she has (temporarily?) stopped blogging. So a group of us that had been doing posts (Linda from Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, Karen from For What It’s Worth, Roberta from Offbeat YA, Jen from That’s What I’m Talking About and me) decided to get together, come up with some more topics and keep the meme going.Michelle made us a logo and we’re off and running. For more details, check out this post where I reintroduced the meme.
I can be sporadic, but when I do join in I will always share next week’s topic at the end of the post. So, today is about…
Do you reread series before reading the newest book if it’s been a while?
It depends. If it’s a series I know really well and it’s a longer series, I will just jump into the newest book. But if I can’t tell you any of the characters, that’s a sign that no matter how long the series is, I probably need to reread. More often than not, I do end up rereading because if it’s been a while but I still am interested in the series, I probably enjoyed the earlier books and want to fully understand what’s happening. Usually the only reason it’s been a while is that the next book wasn’t available yet when I was reading and then I lost track of the new books coming out. So rereading will be fun anyway 🙂
I talk about rereading series before a new book comes out, but I generally don’t do that. I tried that with one series and it hasn’t worked out as planned. Plus, time is a big factor. I am not really much of a re-reader as it is.
Here’s my response: https://www.literaryfeline.com/2023/02/where-is-your-bookmark-peek-into.html
Yes, although not always all the books. I am more likely to listen again or read passages. I have read The Others, Discovery of Witches and Harry Potter numerous times, oh and the Iron Druid Chronicles.
I used to re-read series, then only the most recent book. While I still do that for a few select series, I mainly don’t go back and re-read.
I don’t usually because some of the series I’ve been reading for 20 years have more than 20 books in them.
It depends on the length of time. I may skim the previous one really quick. But it is rare that I do
I generally don’t, but there are exceptions like last year, I did a re-listen to The Others series when Crowbones came out.
I want to reread but just can’t always do it. But for favorite series, that’s why I created the Read-along, so I could reread ones I love. Or sometimes entire series right before the end or near the end of the series releases.
I don’t re-read series before a new book releases but I really want to. I just tend to feel bad for all the books I haven’t read. I wish I had more time!
