SYNOPSIS:

“… a darkly romantic beginning to what promises to be an unusual contemporary YA fantasy series.”
– Serena Chase, USA TodayWhen Cora’s mother whisks the family away for the summer, Cora must decide between forging her future in the glimmering world of second homes where her parents belong, or getting lost in the bewitching world of the locals and the mystery surrounding a lonely old woman who claims to be a selkie creature—and who probably needs Cora more than anyone else.Through the fantastical tales and anguished stories of the batty Mrs. O’Leary, as well as the company of a particularly gorgeous local boy called Ronan, Cora finds an escape from the reality of planning her life after high school. But will it come at the cost of alienating Cora’s mother, who struggles with her own tragic memories?

As the summer wanes, it becomes apparent that Ronan just may hold the answer to Mrs. O’Leary’s tragic past—and Cora’s future.

jss_aprilshowers_stitches straight purpleI was so happy to be able to chat with Annie and realized with both are crazy about Harry Potter 🙂

What’s something that amazes you? Babies. And puppies. The fact that there are tiny hearts and tiny brains and itty bitty lungs in there is mind-blowing!

What is your favorite snack food? Don’t tell me I have to pick one! I would eat honey mustard pretzels until I died. Also cheddar Chex Mix! Cheesey popcorn. Anything cheesy or chocolatey! I’m so not picky!

It’s a rainy Sunday afternoon, what movie would you want to see on TV? Harry Potter! All eight of them. In a row. If I have my favorite snack foods, I’ll sit there allll day!

Which animal scares you the most? Why? Horses. I’ve been horseback riding a bunch of times, but it always makes me nervous! They’re just so big! And so strong. Give me a large dog instead!

If you could be a member of any TV sitcom family, which would it be? Definitely Modern Family. Especially the Dunphys. I’d love to be Claire and Phil’s kid!

What season do you prefer? Why? Back when snow days meant no school, I loved winter. Now that snow is just an annoying addition to my day, I live for summer! Give me a beach and a book any day.

What is the scariest scene you remember from a movie as a kid? I was scared of absolutely everything as a child, so I couldn’t name just one! There was even a painting in our house that had a woman I found horrifying, so my parents had to tape a piece of paper over her face. Once, when I was a little older, my dad called me while I was watching The Ring. If you’ve seen that movie you know why that was terrifying!
