Each month you will make a post with three books from your TBR List (these books can be already on your kindle or shelf or books you might want to purchase) and add your link on the linky that will be provided on my post. Your followers and the people on the linky will help you choose which book you will read next. The following Saturday you will announce the book that won. Then read the book and on the last Saturday of the month post a review. MY TBR List is hosted by Michelle & Berls (Because Reading) so be sure to stop by the link and read everyone’s reviews!
I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

"Mrs. Cass, we were hoping your son could answer a few questions about the girl who disappeared last night..."
Erika Cass has a perfect family and a perfect life. Until the evening when two detectives show up at her front door.
A high school girl has vanished from Erika's quiet suburban neighborhood. The police suspect the worst--murder.
And Erika's teenage son, Liam, was the last person to see the girl alive.
Erika has always sensed something dark and disturbed in her seemingly perfect older child. She wants to believe he's innocent, but as the evidence mounts, she can't deny the truth--Liam may have done the unthinkable.
Now she must ask herself:How far will she go to protect her son?
My top thoughts:
Wow! Absolutely fantastic. Okay, now to write a review without spoiling anything… let’s see how I can do that.
What I liked/didn’t like:
The premise of this book is what drew me in. As a mother, I don’t know how I’d respond to the realization that my child is a sociopath. It’s very easy to imagine behaving just as Erika Cass does – trying to protect him from himself and loving him deeply, all while fearing for him and being slightly afraid of him. And when a girl ends up missing, Erika believes the worst has finally happened. It’s gut wrenching.
Meanwhile, we see things from the perspective of two characters only – the missing girl and Erika – but we also get these snippets of interviews of people who have known Liam over the years and most believe he’s absolutely capable of murder.
I was captivated and heart broken for Erika from beginning to end. There are a couple of shocking twists, one which completely blew me away (and yet, the groundwork was there… Brilliant!) and another which I hoped I was wrong about. This was my first read with Frieda McFadden but I would not hesitate to pick up another. So good!
Narrator thoughts:
Suzie Althens and Daniel Thomas May were new-t0-me narrators that I would definitely listen to again. I felt like they did a good job of bringing out the characters, as well as complimenting each other’s styles — overall a good fit. I read at 2x speed (my normal speed) and it was a comfortable listen- I read it in just 2 days!
Wow. I would not want to be Erika – gut wrenching. I’m glad it was such a stellar read for you. Great review!
Thank you! I know could you imagine? How horrible. I think you would really enjoy this one.
