Book Recommendations for October that are simply Spooktacular!!

I LOVE a good spooky book. This October I am planning to have two posts that give Adult & YA Spooky Recs and Middle Grade Scary Stories. Something for the entire family to find what they might want to read this creepy season.

So let’s get started…

Adult & YA Spooky Reads

I would count these as good books for either an adult or YA.

Kill River might work better for YA group than adult since the kids in the book make choices that as parents we would question…at lot but otherwise it wasn’t bad and I have always wanted to read the next one in the series even thought I can’t even understand how there is another one in the series.

Ghostland could have done without the weird sex/penis..whatever that was but otherwise it was a pretty interesting story and it has Jurassic Park vibes but with horrible murderous ghosts…same energy.

Horrorstor was good, I actually enjoyed it, again probably more of a YA read since the “ghost” would probably scare a younger crowd than older folks.

While I wasn’t sure what to expect when reading the Mary Shelley Club, I don’t think I was expecting what happened. I was a touch heartbroken and major trust issues. This is a great YA read and good for Adults too. I do wish it have a little more character build but over all it was a good thriller.

The Initial Insult, I wasn’t going to add this one but I thought I should since it is a good YA read, has lots of Poe references and was more murder than horror. This is a duology so I am actually looking forward to seeing what happens. Overall my favorite things was seeing all the Edgar Allen Poe references and how the author used them

The Haunting of Gillespie House is a good old fashioned spooky scary haunted house. Alone for the weekend house sitting the house makes it apparent it doesn’t need a babysitter and the people that owned the house were kind of asshole.

Not a super scary set but a few that I must mention since they are good for this time of year. I also know I posted the last one before but it honestly is one of my favorite books!

The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein is a retelling of the story but from Elizabeths POV. It has some creepy elements but overall a good read to really find out who the monster really was. Good for anyone this was really a great book.

The Girls Save the World in this One is a fun Zombie Story about friendship and budding romances all while trying to escape a zombiecon that accidentally became filled with real zombies. Great YA and Adult Read!

The Devils you know wasn’t super scary to me but really weird. I don’t know why I loved this book so much and it doesn’t have great reviews but I don’t care because I liked it and I still like it. Good read for YA!

Do you have any spooky scary book recommendations that you think I should add to my TBR?

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my post!

Have an amazing day and Happy Haunting!
