Berls on Zombies
I’m not a big fan of zombies at all. Just not my thing. My step-son did wear me down over the years, though, since Zombies are one of his favorite things. From when he was just 5 or 6 years old I would listen for HOURS as he told me his zombie dreams. And he’s never grown out of his love for them. I did also briefly enjoy The Walking Dead, you know, before it started to suck. The first several seasons were full of drama and really good.
For books, I tend to look the other way when zombies are mentioned because (as I said), I’m just not a big fan. But there are two series that I recommend.
White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland
The first is White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland. And if you’re an audio fan, you really must listen to this series. And the series is complete, so you can just binge it (maybe as part of a future Can You Read a Series in a Month? Challenge series!). You sold yet?
Living with the Dead by Jess Peterson
The other series I kind of stumbled into as a Can You Read a Series in a Month? challenge series this year. I wanted something short, free (it was an audible escape series), and light. So this is not super scary zombies, though there are some intense moments. Mainly, it’s fun with some good humor and some sprinkling of intensity. I enjoyed the series way more than I expected I would, honestly. Here’s my brief series review, since i actually have it published.
I didn’t think I was but I read several series for Series on Saturday and it turns out I like the stories as a combo of dystopian world and the whole survival aspect in most of them. I especially liked the ones by Kate L. Mary and Peter Clines.
I think I probably would enjoy the more dystopian style books – I just tend to equate zombie with gross blood /gore or over the top scares. Neither are my cup of tea.
Like you, I’m not really drawn to zombies, but Angel and her pals are a definite exception. I did like the YA, Warm Bodies, too. I’ll have to check your other series out.
I THINK my stepson got me to watch the movie version of Warm Bodies and I think it was okay, if I’m remembering the right one. I’m sure the book was better!
