During the month of October, I asked a few of my friends, what their favorite Monster is (some are not so scary) and what book(s) they read that they loved that associated with the Monster they picked. The answers are great and the recommendation are even better! Enjoy!
The Headless Horseman and I are tight!
From Washington Irving to Johnny Depp, I have a love for this awesome headless dude. When I think scary or halloween, I always think My headless friend. Something about the entire story of the headless horseman has always fascinated me. I love to read tellings and it wasn’t until recently that I found one that took the story and twisted it into something new but keeping with the old legend. The books had humor, mystery, horror and a cast of fun characters. I laughed, cried (yes, cried) and screamed with delight. This series has blown me away and set my standards for retellings of this legend very high. The Legends Saga by Stacey Rourke is one of the most interesting retellings I have ever read and when the series was over, I wasn’t sure how I would survive without spending time with all of these amazing characters.
I am not even sure where to start when talking about this series. If you take the legends and twist it on its head you have The Legends Saga. The story is about Ireland Crane, she moves to Sleepy Hollow and the legend is reborn. The back and forth between now and then is fantastic. Each books brings in a literary characters. The last book is heartbreaking but amazing. I never in a million years thought it would ends like this. With Romance, Horror and tons of humor this is a great read for October or anytime you are needing a little Horseman fix. This is one series I would love to read again and again.

Oh this is a book/series I meant to put on my top ten scary books I actually sent to read. Oops! I know you’ve raved about it so much!
I like headless horseman books too. 🙂 It’s such a fun legend and I have read Crane but not the others, not sure why…lol. I need to finish up that trilogy. 🙂
I always loved the Headless Horseman as a kid! To me it was Halloween when that came on! That and charlie Brown. lol Never heard of the Legends saga but it sounds awesome!
