Slump, Shitty Breakfast & Bloggiesta ~ WIR & TSP

Posted March 20, 2016 by Michelle in The Sunday Post, WIReadview / 24 Comments

WIR&TSPWeek in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Itโ€™s a chance to share news, post a recap of the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

On the Blog & Real Life:

Last week I decided that I no longer wish to catch up. I am so behind on posts from my massive blogging slump that I decided instead that instead of trying to get all caught up I will just move forward and now worry if some days aren’t filled. My plan is to just focus on the coming weeks and not worry about the current week. If I don’t have anything scheduled, Oh Well, then I don’t have anything scheduled. I want to get back to having fun blogging and right now this slump is KILLING me. I just feel all out of sorts and just not myself but I think I found a way to fix all of this and it includes a few changes. I reworked my review layout and plan to rework everything I do on the blog. I am calling it “Operation clean start to defeat the slump” I thought that if I just do stuff different and not the same old boring way I have been maybe I will be more productive. I already came up with a new way to review and I LOVE it. I now need to get rid of the reading slump so I can start writing reviews. I am just slumping all over the place…I really need a vacation…51 days until CHICAGO (BEA) I can’t wait. It will be so nice to get away with my husband and meet some great people. It will be a few days of good company, great food and LOTS of wine. ๐Ÿ™‚

Saturday we had shitty breakfast with the bunny and of course my father told them it was a shitty breakfast. He tells them every time we go, you would think by now they would tell us we can’tย come. The kids had fun so that is really what counts even if I am starving when I get home from not eating but the Easter Bunny was adorable.

Bloggiesta starts this week and I am hoping to get a bunch of stuff done, this slump stinks but Iย figure since I am not trying to catch up anymore I can take my time getting April and Maybe May filled up. Not sure if I have that much stuff but I think I have enough to make a good dent in both of those months.

  1. I love that you have a name for your plan, Michelle…Operation clean start to defeat the slump. That’s awesome! I have initiated the same philosophy as you with the ‘eh, I don’t have anything scheduled on the blog…who cares?!?’ It’s a good philosophy in my opinion. *Cheers* And YES…only 51 days til we meet in Chicago. It’s going to be a blast…and apparently we both need the time away. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m hoping your week is off to a great start and you kick Bloggiesta ass!!

  2. Oh Michelle, I completely understand. Somehow I had a heap of books arrive in late Jan – Feb all published in those months which meant my TBR pile exploded and I felt guilty I didn’t have reviews done before / around publication dates. I stressed and stressed until (this past week) I decided to skip those books which I was desperate to read (and put them aside for later) and decided to start from scratch with March. I feel so much better so hope you feel the same!

    • I keep thinking that but the kids just love it and it worth the groans from the adults to see them happy. Next one is Christmas with the amount we complain you would think they would maybe change the menu lol
I am trying but I just can’t seem to shake it and I never left this out of sorts for this long. It’s weird ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I saw your blog title and I knew it must be Easter Bunny brunch time!!! Yes, you guys really need to find a new place!! Seriously!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Your blog looks so nice and clean – like a clean slate, girl. I’m so sorry you’re still slumping!! I’ll give you a hug in May, okay?! I never worry about posts during the week. If it happens, it happens!! Maybe when you get to Jersey it’ll all come back???

Hang in there!!! Huggles!! ps. the kids are looking adorable!!

    • I know but the kids love it so much, we all just groan and suffer.

I am hoping BEA will be the kick in the butt I need, it usually is. Just worried about how the blog will be until then but I figure slow and steady and I will get there.

Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ They both have sinister grins which is kinda creepy but still cute lol

  4. You endure that poor breakfast every year don’t you…lol. You should tell the Easter Bunny to eat somewhere where the food is better. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I got all the books for you this time since I wasn’t a good girl…lol.

  5. Bwahaha..the shitty food we endure for our kids to attend events like Breakfast with the Easter Bunny. Hopefully it wasn’t expensive shitty food..lol I am excited for BEA and look forward to hanging out and meeting everyone!

  6. I’m also in a slump right now since work is sucking the life out of me lol. I’m also just moving forward and changing things. I’m also changing the way I review books. Unless the book is for a tour (which I rarely sign up for) I will be keeping my reviews simple. I’m also planning on doing mini reviews, just to track for my reading challenges.

You are so funny about the Easter breakfast. But you keep going for the kids and it looks like they enjoy it. I’m not a fan of the Rainforest Cafรฉ. The food isn’t great and it’s overpriced. You mainly are paying for the animatronics lol.

I hope you have a great week!

    • It seems like a lot of people are slumping this year. I think we all might need a good refresh! ๐Ÿ™‚ Mini reviews are good. I left a few of my shorter challenges open until the end of the year just to count them toward the challenge but I give a short review on GRs to make them count (if that makes sense).

The food isn’t great but I don’t think it’s awful and yes very overpriced. The Dino Cafe in Disney is cute the kids enjoy that one but this rainforest is very small. The bigger ones have better food in my opinion but still very overpriced ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Michelle, sorry you are struggling with your books! Unless you received it directly from an author or publisher and specifically promised a review in a timely fashion, I wouldn’t sweat it. For most of us, this is a hobby and it’s okay to have downtime and lack of reading mojo or time set aside to review. Just move on and don’t look back.

Hope this upcoming week is better for you. Love your Easter bunny pic. Been there, done that with my kids ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I really try not to and most of these are not really promises just books from Netgalley and if I don’t like it I can’t force myself to read it. I really just need to get my reading/blogging mojo back. It is really hard.

      Thanks Rita ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. I hope your new plan helps for your blogging slump. Trying not too worry too much about the current week sounds like a good plan and it’s okay to have a few days without a post. It does sound exciting how you’re coming up with new ways to day everything. I am curious about your new review style/ plan.

Your kids always seem to enjoy it when you have breakfast at that place, even though you mention the shitty breakfast every time, but hey if your kids have fun that’s what counts. The Easter bunny does look adorable and I like the decor of the place.

That cover for Asleep gives me the creeps every time I see it. I do hope you’re enjoying it. Have a great week!

    • I already have a few reviews written the old way but I am loving the new style so those will start popping up sometime in April. However I think I wrote one for a recent review but I can’t remember which one it was for or if I am making it up lol

They do love it and that is my official name for it, Shitty Breakfast ๐Ÿ™‚ The food is all frozen foods and heated. Just not yummy. The normal food is pretty good, I do enjoy that, which they would have Lunch with the bunny. They make pretty good BBQ Ribs.

Asleep is weird and giving me anxiety, it is a little slow and I want it to start giving more information since I think it’s being WAY to vague on details but I don’t plan to stop and hope to finish it today.

    • Thanks Samantha! I am hoping the new changes will make me a little more bloggy this is the worst slump I have had so I do hope it will break with me moving forward and not catching up.
My dad cracks me up. Once they ask him how everything is, we all get up and quietly walk away. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. LOL about breakfast- is that a Rainforest Cafe or something? Kinda looks like it… I know their food’s not the best lol. I think it’s funny your dad tells them that! Don’t you love paying through the nose for crappy food?

Love the cover on The Lingering Grace. the synopsis sounds pretty good too. Hope it’s a good one.

Love the pic- bring on the water! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Ha ha I like it too I think the decor is cool and I love the “downpour” when it rains. I’m a big kid basically. I do razz them on their food though as it hasn’t been the best when I’ve been there… but I still like to go. And the Volcano is awesome! Been known to go there jsut to get that. Volcanooooooo!!! lol

Greg recently posted: Sunday Post #134
    • Yes, the Rainforest Cafe ๐Ÿ™‚ We really need to find a new place with better breakfast.
The Lingering Grace is a book two, the first one was pretty interesting so I am excited to read this one.
I can’t wait to go down again, my life’s goals is to move down there. It would make me so happy.
