News at Home: COVID Quarantine Week 13
Well this week went by in a blur. Since it’s my last week on the current position I had a lot of close out tasks to take care of. Just things that I thought I’d have 1 more week to do so I had to pack in a lot in 1 week. I actually still have a few more videos to edit today. I”m really looking forward to starting my new position tomorrow and I think it’s going to be pretty easy going next week. It’s very weird starting a new position from home… I’m not really sure what I’ll be doing all day. I think I will not be too busy.
Monday Dante’s baby prison finally arrived :). I joke, but that’s basically what it is and boy did we need it! I leave the door open when he’s playing and I can be right here with him. But when I need to step away, it’s so nice to just close the gate, leave him happily playing and take care of what I need to. I even got more work done this way. I also finally got him a book case! He’s a little book lover with tons of books – so it was needed. And he’s already loving looking in it for books.
Tuesday was my birthday and my husband made me think he forgot (I’m still not sure if he didn’t forget and did a good job fixing it?). So I was kinda sad all day, thinking he forgot. Then he came home from work with a beautiful bouquet of roses and one of my favorite bottles of wine. And he ordered my favorite sushi for dinner. So turned into a pretty great day. I drank a bit too much of my wine and passed out lol! I can only drink 1 glass anymore before it gets to me.
Wednesday we had a playdate! I have a couple really good friends (Crystal and Melissa) – we spend all day, every day in a group text – and they each have 2 kids. Between us we have: 6 year old boy (Melissa’s boy – Michael Jr), 5 year old girl (Crystal’s girl – Beril), 3 year old girl (Crystal’s Girl- Beyza), 18 month boy (Melissa’s boy – Mason), and 8 month boy (Mine – Dante). We’ve been missing each other so much these months and the older kids were missing each other too. And Melissa was having surgery Friday, so we knew we had a limited window to try and get together. It was so much fun! I especially loved watching Dante interact – last time we got together he was too young, but this time he really wanted to play. Here’s a few pictures from the day!

Had such a wonderful time today! A birthday celebration and #playdate combined for a great day. ❤️❤️
The rest of the week was just work and watching Dante and pretty normal. Yesterday I went to the office and cleaned out my area. It was kinda sad, I was so happy there. But thankfully I have a new position and I think I will be happy there as well. And my plants survived, so that was a big yay!!!
Blog News
Okay I’m not doing great at blogging. Just had a lot of work to do. I actually think I might do better this week since my stepson is coming over to watch Dante. I guess it will depend how much work I have to do? I’m really hoping I can start to establish some work patterns this week that I can carry on in the weeks to come that include blogging and eating better (because that’s been awful)… and maybe even some real workouts!
Love the baby prison! Keeps them safe and happy and gives you some flexibility to get stuff done. 🙂
Happy birthday!
Catching up with friends is also awesome. Since they loosened restrictions here, I’ve been able to have “bring your own brew” coffee catch-ups in friends gardens and it’s made a world of difference to the mental health…
Baby prison. LOL That’s too funny. But I’m sure completely necessary. 🙂 I hope your new job has gotten off to a good start.
Happy belated birthday! That was such a sweet surprise from your husband. I would have been sad all day too if my husband acted like he forgot mine! I am glad you were able to get together with friends for a playdate. I’m sure Dante loved it too. 🙂 A friend and I have talked about setting up a playdate, but haven’t made it happen yet. And another friend mentioned having a social distance picnic in her backyard, so we are condiering that.
I hope you have a great week, Berls. Take care.
Happy Birthday, Berls! Sounds like you had a fun one. I’m a light weight with drinking too. LOL
Glad you had a great Birthday! Love the baby prison…lol.
Have a great week!

Still laughing at the baby prison. LOL Glad it’s working, though! I hope the new job gets off to a great start but it would be really weird to start a new job at home without meeting the new boss/co-workers in person.
Had to laugh at the baby prison! We had one and it was an absolute lifesaver! I don’t think I ended up needing it for all that long but it was worth every penny. The playdate looks fun! We are getting together with a friend who has 3 boys and are so excited. It’ll be the first time my son has been around other kids since March! Good luck with the new position! I can’t even imagine how challenging it would be to start a new job at home. Have a great week!
Good luck with the new job tomorrow!! And i love the baby jail!! Seems like Dante does too!
Have a great first day tomorrow! I’m so glad you were able to get things in place. You’ll be busy for a bit setting up your new patterns and routines. I’m worried people aren’t taking COVID seriously enough so I’m glad you are still working at home for now. I love the “prison”; we had playpens which were smaller but still useful. It just wasn’t as critical because my daughter was such a great sleeper at night and during the day and so consistent . It’s nice you can do play dates; I would still be nervous.
Happy reading and stay well!
Anne – Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
Thanks Anne! By some weird coincidence, we all had either had a covid test or had someone in our household have a coivd test within the last week (Kiko because of a coworker with positive test but turns out he quarantined in time, my friend because she was having surgery, and my other friend’s husband as a precaution for a job he was doing) . So we felt like the chances of having a time again soon where we could be this confident everyone was safe was unlikely. Otherwise I’d probably be nervous too. I’m still anxious about Dante having to go to daycare on the 29th, but I don’t see any other options.
I love the prison 🤣! Dante sleeps 2 – 3 hours most days, but he’s not consistent and I have so much work to do. Plus I just want him to be able to play on his own some – build that independence.
Have a great week Anne!
Yay for playdates and a new position! So many changes this year for everyone that it’s nice to see good things. It seems like our changes this year involved spending a lot of cash, but that’s ok. We had it and the changes were needed. Now, I just need to get back to unhoarding the house. And then the shed. Again. lol I hope you have a great week, Berls! XOXO
