News at Home
Going to be super brief today, as it’s 11 p.m. and I’m ready for bed. But I had a good week. Work was fairly busy – as always – and they announced on Wednesday that they plan to move to Phase 3 of our operational plan starting May 1, meaning I will be heading back to the office May 3rd. I have mixed feelings, but mostly I think this is a good thing. I’ve been working from home while watching Dante over a year now and it’s exhausting. And I think returning him to daycare will be good for him, especially with his language and social skills. But it will be expensive again, in addition to resuming my gas and toll expenses. And while things are much better, I still have my COVID concerns.
This week was also Kiko’s birthday. We didn’t do much on his birthday – Monday. I had to go to the office and my brother watched Dante. But I did bring him home Shake Shack for dinner. We really celebrated on Saturday – we went for our first date night since February 2020. We saw Godzilla vs King Kong. The movie was fine, getting out was incredible. And Phil was babysitter extraordinaire again. We owe him so much but he won’t let us pay or anything. He says he’s the uncle and he loves watching Dante <3.
The highlight of my week, though, was my hair appointment. I decided that it was time to get my hair really truly done this weekend and Kiko supported me in wanting to brave sitting in a salon. I had an appointment in March 2020…. well you know how that went: cancelled due to COVID. And that appointment had already been really overdue, since the last time I did my hair I was 6 months pregnant – June 2019. So my Saturday appointment was almost 2 years! It turned out really well and I feel like a new woman. Hopefully it won’t be nearly as long before the next appointment.
I’m going to skip all the other stuff because I’m really tired and ready to go to sleep. But I did buy books this week and I got some for review – I’ll try to share them next week.
Happy birthday to Kiko! Shake Shack sounds delicious. Somehow we don’t have one here but I love it. And yay for having the babysitter extraordinaire. How sweet that’s going to have such a good uncle/nephew relationship with Dante. Getting a real haircut sounds amazing. I get my 2nd vaccine towards the end of April so I’m already looking forward to my May appointment. It’s been a year since I’ve had my hair cut and it’s getting ridiculous – it’s almost to my waist. Thank goodness for thick hair! Have a great week!
I love the sound of so many normal activities. I always had my daughter in daycare because she had no siblings and I wanted her to have some socialization. I see the vaccinations really ramping up. Hopefully people won’t jump the gun too much and will still take some care. We are talking about getting a trim before the wedding we may attend in May. Maybe even get my nails done. My nails are longish but my cuticles are in horrible shape.

Getting a haircut after so long can feel so good! I had one in February which I’m so glad for because hairdressers are closed again here since recently.
Sounds like a great week. Happy birthday to Kiko! Hope you love your hair and getting back to office work goes great when it starts.
Happy Easter!
The bonus of thick curly hair that grows fast is that I can cut a couple of inches off myself and even if it’s not quite straight it’s pretty hard to tell, it’s been more than a decade since I went to a hairdresser 🙂
I hope the transition back to the office full time goes smoothly
Happy birthday to Kiko
Wishing you a great reading week
Hooray for a professional haircut! I’ve given myself two at-home trims and I’m sure it would look crazy if I ever wore my hair down (which I never do). 😛
Sounds like busy times! Glad you finally got your haircut! I think I went almost a year before I got mine. I get lazy sometimes and just don’t feel like hassling with the appointment and whatnot. I like my hair longer in winter anyway to help keep me a little warmer, but once it warms up I want it off! Lol. Glad you were able to get a nice date night in. I can’t remember the last time I saw a movie in theaters. I want to say it was Frozen 2…so you know wayyy before the pandemic.
Can’t wait to see your haul next week! Hope you enjoy your “mystery” books!

Have a GREAT day!
