Tell Me Something Tuesday: Blog-hopping?

Tell Me Something Tuesday

Tell Me Something Tuesday was hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings, but she has (temporarily?) stopped blogging. So a group of us that had been doing posts (Linda from Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, Karen from For What It’s Worth, Roberta from Offbeat YA, Jen from That’s What I’m Talking About  and me) decided to get together, come up with some more topics and keep the meme going.Michelle made us a logo and we’re off and running. For more details, check out this post where I reintroduced the meme.

I can be sporadic, but when I do join in I will always share next week’s topic at the end of the post. So, today is about…

What’s your blog-hopping strategy?

Well, I suck at blog-hopping so… maybe don’t take any tips from me. My problem is time, something I hope to have more of in a couple weeks when Dante is back at daycare and I’m at the office taking an actual lunch break (right now, I don’t take a break because I have to stop so frequently to take care of Dante). My lunch break will by blog-hopping time.

Anyway, when I do have time I have two approaches:

First, I like to visit back those who have visited me. So I go through comments and check out the most recent post for each commenter.

Second, I follow several blogs on Feedly. I go through the unread posts and mark for read later the ones that peak my interest. Then I mark all read and go through my read-later posts.

There’s usually a decent amount of overlap from the commenters and Feedly bogs I follow.

That’s what it looks like when I have time. Right now, I try to read feedly posts but I don’t actually take the time to visit the actual blog and leave a comment.

What about you?

Next week’s topic: What have been some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced to continue blogging and how did you solve them?

About Berls

Michelle adopted me as part of her blog when I decided to close down my blog, Fantasy is More Fun. The blog was dying, but my love of reading and the blogosphere was still strong as ever - so I found my new home here at Because Reading!

I'm not just a book lover, but a one time author (that hopes to be more in the future), wife, mom to the cutest, happiest, best 2 year old and step-mom to the craziest, sweetest 22 year old on the planet. My family mean everything to me and they appear frequently in the Sunday Post with Berls. So grab a glass of wine and chat books, blogging, and family with me!

  1. I was using bloglovin’ but it has been pissing me off. So, I’m trying to use feedly, but I feel like I’m missing stuff. I usually spend Sunday visiting because I just know it is not gonna happen during the week.

  2. I follow way too many bloggers but I can’t help it. I get an email when someone posts something. Each day, I try to visit a minimum of 25 blogs to comment and others to like. Somedays, I don’t get a chance to visit any and then I get bogged down and end up deleting all the emails. I also visit links when others recommend them on their round up posts. Hard to do it all and read and review as well, but I do what I can.

I have a similar strategy. Luckily I can usually check Feedly a couple times a week, so it doesn’t get too overwhelming. If I miss more than a week, I only check the most recent posts, or I’d be stuck forever trying to catch up.

  4. I also use Feedly and do the same thing. I mark things as read for later and when I have time, go through (its what I’m doing now). I also visit the link ups for weekly memes I’m in. I make time to blog hop by waking up at 4am every day lol. I don’t blog hop every morning but waking up at 4am gives me the chance to do things I want before my son wakes up (like workout, read, blog, clean something lol)
