Tell Me Something Tuesday was hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings, but she has (temporarily?) stopped blogging. So a group of us that had been doing posts (Linda from Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, Karen from For What It’s Worth, Roberta from Offbeat YA, Jen from That’s What I’m Talking About and me) decided to get together, come up with some more topics and keep the meme going.Michelle made us a logo and we’re off and running. For more details, check out this post where I reintroduced the meme.
I can be sporadic, but when I do join in I will always share next week’s topic at the end of the post. So, today is about…
What’s your favorite form of media (apart from literature, that is)?
This has changed over the years – and maybe it will again – but currently, it would be TV. I like the variety I get from television. I have shows that tell dramatic stories, intense stories, funny stories, and I also enjoy my ridiculous trash/reality TV. And I like that a show goes much more in-depth than movies and, as a result, creates better characters and more convincing plots generally.
I’ve never been a big music person. I enjoy it in a great workout and a get-together (so socially, since I do group exercise), but it’s very rare for me to enjoy listening to music on my own.
I’ve gone through phases where I really enjoy movies, but for the most part they really are too long of a time commitment for me. I have a hard time sitting still too long. And now that I have Dante, I struggle to get through an entire episode of a TV show in one sitting, let alone a movie.
I think gaming has gone through some serious ups and downs for me. I used to have gaming systems, but as I’ve gotten older I haven’t felt like that’s where I want to expend my time. The one holdout has been The Sims. I really enjoy the PC game and go through phases were I will play a lot. But even that, I play a lot less since Dante than I used to. Maybe 2 to 4 hours a month. I just don’t have the time.
Omg the time I used to spend playing SIMS, and I did not even have it. I played with a friend, we sat there for hours. I used to have a million husbands to make me money, awww good times
I agree that things like this ebb and flow. I used to only listen to music, then I was in a big podcast phase. I watched a ton of TV before kids, then only recently started binging it again.
Good point about how where you’re at in your life might change what you can realistically do/enjoy and how time can change interests.
I have to agree with you. I love getting into a show. It’s so much more in-depth than a movie, and I love when it’s so good that I need to binge watch it.
