Tell Me Something Tuesday was hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings, but she has (temporarily?) stopped blogging. So a group of us that had been doing posts (Linda from Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, Karen from For What It’s Worth, Roberta from Offbeat YA, Jen from That’s What I’m Talking About and me) decided to get together, come up with some more topics and keep the meme going.Michelle made us a logo and we’re off and running. For more details, check out this post where I reintroduced the meme.
I can be sporadic, but when I do join in I will always share next week’s topic at the end of the post. So, today is about…
Does blogging cut into your other hobbies/chores?
Um….. yeah.
So you know how I sometimes seem super active and then other times I disappear? It’s because, as much as I LOVE it, blogging is a time suck. Until you’re a blogger, you have no concept of the amount of time that goes into it. And I’m not the best example of the time it takes, because I do absolutely horrible visiting you all (I’m very sorry for that). There’s just so much to juggle every day and only 24 hours in a day.
I don’t let blogging get in the way of work and taking care of Dante. But other than that, it’s a constant negotiation of sleep, reading, cleaning, cooking, laundry, working out, cooking, watching tv etc and blogging. Some days it comes first, others I don’t get to it. I’ve learned to be okay with that (for the most part).
It used to but now it’s more like my life cuts into my blogging time lol I’m constantly trying to find a balance between being a wife & mom and my bookish life online hahha It’s a lot of work!
“Until you’re a blogger, you have no concept of the amount of time that goes into it.”
Sure you don’t. Aaargh!
I don’t have other hobbies, but blogging sure cuts into my chores. Also because it’s my comfort blanket…I tried to schedule ahead in order to take breaks, but I ended up going back to the blog and scheduling more.
Makes sense to me to put it on a priority list somewhere and treat it as a hobby that you get to when you get to it. 🙂
There goes a lot of time into blogging, a lot of people would be surprised at how much.
When I was just starting out and my kids were young, blogging was hard to fit in and it often took a backseat to “real life.” But now my kids are older (17 and 15), and I don’t need to do as much for them, I find I can be more efficient with my blogging time and get it in more often.
Blogging is such a time suck! That’s why I took a step back last fall and decided I would only post when/if I wanted. Absolutely no pressure. I was ignoring reading just so I could generate blog posts… and that seemed completely backwards!
Haha, yeah, blogging could easily be a full time job for me. I’m the slowest blogger ever! Keeping a blog going involves a lot of late nights and early mornings.
