Tell Me Something Tuesday was hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings, but she has (temporarily?) stopped blogging. So a group of us that had been doing posts (Linda from Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, Karen from For What It’s Worth, Roberta from Offbeat YA, Jen from That’s What I’m Talking About and me) decided to get together, come up with some more topics and keep the meme going.Michelle made us a logo and we’re off and running. For more details, check out this post where I reintroduced the meme.
I can be sporadic, but when I do join in I will always share next week’s topic at the end of the post. So, today is about…
What are some of the worst jobs characters jobs you’ve read?
Y’all I came up with this question, which means I must have had some great ideas at the time. I should have made notes because now I’m struggling to think of any! I just know I’ll think of a bunch the day after this post goes live. Or maybe y’all will jog my memory in the comments! But here’s what I came up with:
- I forget what the technical name of her job is, but Angel in White Trash Zombie is the assistant to the mortician. No way. No thank you.
- In Scythe they are reapers. I swear, I will put things on my list that aren’t about death. But come on… worst job ever, being responsible for people dying.
- I can think of other specific examples, but any job that requires cleaning, garbage collection, selling things… I’m not a fan.
Oh… mortician is a “good” one… no thanks! I only listed “real” jobs in books I read this past year. But one of the worst I read is being a human janitor on an alien spaceship. It was a pretty funny book, but she had to deal with a lot of gross stuff.
I would hate to be a teacher…even more than being a mortician. I wouldn’t be able to handle the stress!
LOL! I can understand that – I was a teacher for 5 years and loved it though 🙂 And I know some people who actually would love to be morticians. Different strokes for different folks I guess!
I definitely wouldn’t want to be a Coroner’s Assistant like Angel, but along those lines, I wouldn’t want to work for a company that cleans up after a crime scene. I read a series focused on those guys, ZA Maxfield’s Brothers Grime.
Oh definitely not! anything to do with seeing dead bodies or the after affects wouldnt work for me (so I guess detective is out too…)
