Week in READview:

On & Off the Blog:

I knew working full time again was going to be a lot but I never thought it would be so crazy. So at work we work with a lot of Funeral Homes we do programs and prayer cards. I went from being an expert at making menus to an expert at making keepsakes for people to help them when family members pass. It is an honor to make it for them (I can’t post any since I would need permission) they are amazing and the reaction of the families warms my heart. I never thought I would be doing this but it is an interesting job and you do a lot of design work. Since our weeks are so unpredictable it is hard to tell how much work we will have. Like this week we got a call after work do get a Poster done for a funeral the next day at 8am. So I had to work late (from home since he set me up so I can) but we got it done. Now this weekend I am doing an Ad Book for a local baptist church that is due this week. I love the busy but I might have to take off next weekend to catch up on my Christmas shopping.

Speaking of…I am almost done. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to order stuff but everything has already shipped and I think I am waiting on one or two more things. I feel like I am super behind because of how busy work is, there just isn’t enough time in a day. I am hoping to go shopping for a few with the husband next weekend so we can finish up the kids. Then I have to focus on a few other people and Christmas Dinner.

So I have a few things to point out this week from the blog

  1. It’s engrained in me to get all my holiday gift shopping done before Thanksgiving so I can have everything mailed out on time–even though I rarely mail anything out anymore. It’s both bad and good though. I am done “early” but then I keep finding and buying more in between. I really need to stop.

I know how special those keepsakes reminding of us lost loved ones can be so special. They hold memories and love.

It’s going to be getting busy from here on out this month. I am taking my staff out for lunch on Tuesday. I got them each little gifts. I always try to personalize them in some way–match them to their individual preferences–without breaking the bank. This year I’m giving them pillows and a box of truffles. I am not sure how well received the pillows will be (they all have different covers depending on their interests), but I figure they can use them as foot rests, punching bags, for naps, or to sit on. My daughter’s band concert is also coming up this week. She is terrible about practicing, but she says she wants to continue in middle school.

I took a year off from challenges this year and it was nice not to put that extra pressure on myself. It was the kind of year that I probably would have failed at them all anyway. I am thinking of at least doing COYER this coming year though. It’s pretty open and flexible.

I hope you have a great week! Take care.
