So I realized when I put werewolves on this list that I really didn’t have any books I read that had werewolves in it. I also haven’t watched a lot of movies besides the normal American Werewolf in London or Teen Wolf, but I don’t like those movies enough to actually talk about them. Then I remembered the most amazing werewolf movie ever. The one I love so much I’ve watched it a million times….

Don’t judge! It’s a really good movie! This has always been my favorite wolfman/werewolf movie. Here is how the story goes without spoilers. Alvin has been having nightmares and they seem to have started when the new neighbor moved in next door. Mr Talbot is a strange fellow and Alvin and Simon are trying to find out if he is a werewolf. Meanwhile the Chipmunks and Chipettes are in a play at the school of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde but when Alvin gets kicked off the pay for blowing something up, shy Theodore has to take his place. Theodore hasn’t been himself recently could something be going on with Theodore and will Alvin and Simon find out if Mr Talbot is really a werewolf?

I love the music and I love the story. This is such a fun movie and great for adults and kids. It’s not scary but little ones should watch with parents just so they know the chipmunks will be ok. Alvin and the Chipmunks meet the Wolfman is just such a cute movie and really should be part of your halloween tradition. If you haven’t seen it yet, it is currently on Hulu! YAY!

It’s funny because when Michelle first put werewolves on the list I thought I didn’t have any to talk about. So not true! Three of my favorite series ever are werewolves! That being said, I’m not a big werewolf fan in general…. I just have these three that I love and besides them I can’t think of any that I’m reading. Weird huh? My first werewolf encounter I think was Oz in Buffy though, so I do love them <3

The Mercedes Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs

This series was my first Urban Fantasy series and it remains one of my favorites. Patty Briggs is fantastic at writing a complex magic word filled with all the big fantasy types (werewolves, vampires, fae, etc) and her characters are amazing. Technically Mercy is a coyote, but she runs with werewolves and it’s really about her relationship with the werewolves so, to me, it’s a werewolf series. You never know what other characters will show up in a book, but there’s ALWAYS the wolves.

I’ve been rereading the series this year and have a few reviews published here (linked in the captions above). Most my reviews are lost to when I was blogging solo at Fantasy is More Fun.

Alpha and Omega Series by Patricia Briggs

This is technically a separate series, but it’s in the same world as Mercy Thompson and the story lines overlap. I would never recommend one without the other. And, while Mercy is my first love, Anna and Charles are my true love. I’m also reareading it this year (since the story lines overlap).

Kitty Norville series by Carrie Vaughn

I had a year where I binge read this entire series, about a werewolf named Kitty. Yep! It has it’s humor but also is action packed. I love that the main character, Kitty, hosts a radio show and the experience is made so real if you listen to the books instead of reading them. As with the other two series, the narration is truly fantastic. Unlike the other two series, this one is complete. So you can binge all 14 books and be done. That’s what I did and it was so fun. Unfortunately, all my reviews for this series are also lost.

What about you? Are you a werewolf fan? What do you recommend?

  1. Love Alvin and the Chipmunks, Michelle! I haven’t seen that you so I’ll have to snag it.

Oh yes, Mercy, Charles and Anna are favs for me, too. Haha, I had no idea the Kitty series was a werewolf one. It’s on the list.

  2. Darn it, I forgot to do this and Werewolves is my favorite monster!!!! I can’t believe you didn’t like American Werewolf in London enough to put it on your list! Best transformation scene ever! LOL 🙂 I might have to do this at a later date since I missed yours…lol.
