First week of 2017 is complete ~ WIR & TSP

On the Blog, Books & Real Life:

Seriously don’t want to jinx it but this was a good week, nothing interesting and all was good. Had my first official day to myself on Friday since November and it was nice to spend the day alone. I planned so much and got nothing done because with all the stuff I have been doing since the week before Christmas I felt like I deserved a day to just sort of do nothing. It was good until about 12 and I got bored and missed the family so I took a little nap and then read until the kids came home. Once everyone was home I was able to do a bunch of blogging stuff and spent most of Saturday blogging as well.

It snowed on Saturday, I originally thought we would get a dusting or an inch but I think we got about 5 inches which was not expected. I didn’t shovel because last time I tried I couldn’t move for a week. Wasn’t doing that again. Julia and Ryan went out in the snow to play. Ryan came up first. Julia came up later (they were not out long) and she looked like a Snow Yeti. She had snowballs in her hair. She swims in the snow. I had to take everything off and set her up for a nice lukewarm shower to get the snow out of her hair. This might have been my big mistake. She was in the shower for a bit and then was calling my name, I think, I honestly don’t know if she did and neither does she. I went in and my heart dropped. She was WHITE as a Sheet! I have never seen her that white…She said “I see white, everything is white with bursts of white flowers” Quickly, I turned off the water and wrapped her in a warm towel to slowly take her out of the tub (I didn’t want her to pass out in there). I was guiding her towards the toilet to sit so she can put her head between her legs. She said she felt like she was going to be sick. When she didn’t do anything I stood her up so I could dry her off and get clothes on her and she got sick this time. Once she was done I dried her off completely and dressed her in warm PJs. Told her to go on the couch, I put socks and a wool hat on her, two blankets and made her Hot Chocolate. She is doing much better now but good lord she scared the shit out of me. I figured it was the extreme cold to the warm water. I should have let her sit and warm up a bit before she went into the water. Not sure if her blood pressure dropped or her heart rate slowed because of the change. It could have been her just having a tummy ache and not realizing it until she came up. I don’t know. I am keeping an eye on her and if anything happens I will take her to the doctors. She really scared me, I had two glasses of wine that night.

Today I will be visiting and blogging then we have a party to go to, I am not a fan of parties on Sunday but it is a family friend and I would feel bad missing it. I am feeling pretty good about where the blog is going and the posts that I have for it.  Bloggiesta is this weekend (Jan 14-15) so that should help me get some posts finished since I plan to make the entire weekend a time to finish off Jan, then I can focus on Feb.

  1. HOLY CRAP!!! Did you look up and see what happened to Julia??? I would never, EVER think to NOT put Jake in the shower after being in the cold. There’s got to be something on Google about it! WTH????? Who knew?? Thank God you really can’t break your kids but wow!! I’m sooooo sorry that happened to you!!! That’s definitely a bottle of wine night, IMHO.

Awesome books this week – I’m circling “Dividing Eden” but haven’t quite decided on it. I’m taking a wait and see approach 😉 It did catch my eye with it’s synopsis, though!!!

I’m glad you had a great Christmas!!! Miss your body, Larry!! (bwahahahahaha) Have a great week!

    • I asked a doctor friend if her blood pressure could have dropped and he said yes. The shock from cold to warm can cause your blood pressure to drop and make you pass out. So now I know 🙂 next time I will let her warm up a bit before putting her in a shower.

  2. Having a day all to yourself after being busy for a while is such a great feeling! Yikes, that is scary about Julia though. It was probably just a one time thing from the temperature or something, but it’s smart of you to keep an eye out just to make sure, and it’s just good you found her before anything happened. Glad she’s feeling better now, and hope you had fun at the party!

    • Me too but when we came in my mom would make us take our stuff off and wrap us in a blanket. I wasn’t even think body temp just the snowballs in her hair.

  3. Some time doing nothing sounds good, but the scare re Julia doesn’t sound good. Hopefully it’s all okay now and she’s thawed out. I know a friend’s child had very little body fat and he would go blue in a pool if the water was even a little colder than usual!

  4. That is really scary and it’s good to hear that Julia is feeling better. I’ll have to remember to let my kids thaw out first. Dividing Eden sounds really good and I love the cover. I hope you have a good week!

    • Yes, actually asked a friend and it happens when they got from cold to hot her blood pressure dropped. I will never do that again. Dividing eden does sound good right? I’m looking forward to reading it:

    • She is good, not sure what it was but she is back to herself now. Omg I think I liked tyrant better than king but I LOVED him! They were so good. I might read Bears story soon but I am dying to read preppy’S story.

    • She is much better. I made her sleep with me so I can check her all night. Scared the shit out of me. Well remember that next time she comes up looking like a snow yeti.

  5. Good for you taking a day FOR you! Sometimes we just gotta. I would be scared to death with what happened to Julia. You were able to work so well. I don’t think I would have remembered to do all those things. I am glad she is alright. Keep us posted.

I don’t like parties in general. I’m an introvert. I like small gatherings so that I am not too uncomfortable and awkward. Parties should not be on Sunday. Doesn’t everyone know this is everyone’s “get your shit together before the weekend is over” day?

    • I enjoy my Friday, I just needed the time. I will remember not to tell her she looks pale, she was hyperventilating lol I needed to tell her to calm down.
Saturday parties are fine but you at 100% correct Sunday is my day to get my shit together! Lol

  6. I can see how that would scare you to death, glad she is doing okay now. You need to remind me about blogiesta and I will try and do it. ::) I aways forget. I had a feeling you would get the babysitter guide to monster hunting. 🙂 Hope this week is a good one too!

    Happy reading,

    • She is great now! I will remind you, my goal post goes up Friday. I might also start on Friday since I am home.
It looked cute and I couldn’t pass it up lol

  7. Yay for a day on your own! Mine was Wednesday and it was heaven though I had a huge list of things to do. I love the idea of not having to do anything but I’ve yet to make it actually happen! All that snow sounds crazy! We don’t get very much and when we do it’s normally only and inch or 2 and mostly slush but it’s fun for the kids. Have a great week!

  8. Yikes you got snow too! It’s all white around here. And cold! Although it’s supposed to warm a bit, then get cold again. C’est la vie- what can you do?

Sorry to hear about Julia, that must have been SCARY! You never know with kids lol but glad she’s okay. And glad to hear your blog stuff is going well. I was way ahead for a while but now I’m only about two weeks- I have afew things beyond that set up but not like I did last fall.

Sundays are not my favorite time to go to parties or get- togethers either, I’m always thinking work the next day ugh. Hope you have a great Sunday though and a good week too. Can’t wait to see your Cover Characteristics post!

    • I have a feeling the snow will melt by Wednesday, since it’s suppose to be warm around here too.
She did scare the crap out of me and she is doing great now.
I am very happy to be ahead, I hope to stay like this but you never know.

At the moment I am thinking of the party as going out to dinner. Since it’s about the same time we would eat so I am hoping it’s not to late.

  9. Glad to hear you had a good week as well. So far 2017 is off to a good start for me as well.

Sounds like your daughter really gave you a scare after she played in the snow. Glad you were there to help her in time and she didn’t pass out or anything. I hope she stays doing well as that sounds pretty scary!

I am also doing some visiting today, I always like making the rounds on Sunday and catching up on blogging. Have fun at the party and have a nice week!

    • She is doing much better and I slept with her last night so I can keep an eye on her. She steals the blankets with she sleeps 🙂 Next time I will wait at least a good 1/2 hour before putting her in a warm tub.

I love Sundays to catch up. It’s my favorite day to visit because all the posts are bookish and real life. Its like getting to hang with you all over coffee or tea and read how your week was.

Thanks, I am actually looking forward to it more for the food because starting tomorrow I would like to try and lose a few pounds lol

    • It was nice to have but I know next time I will be ready to do what I planned, I enjoy those days to get stuff done 🙂
5 inches is more around here even 6 but anything over that is annoying 🙂 I wont be Shoveling until next winter. Pulling a muscle in my neck/back was not fun!

  10. Oh wow – that sounds scary with Julia! I hope she’s feeling better now!!
And your new books look fantastic, Michelle. I want the Joelle Charbonneau one. I love her writing, so I’ll be looking for your review 🙂
I hope the party today will be nice. I’m with you, no stuff on Sundays, please. (Or most other days, frankly… I’m a homebody)
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading xoxo Miss your face!

    • She does keep me on my toes, I just don’t know if she called me or if it was my mommy superpower that thought something was wrong. She really did scare me and I made her sleep in the bed with me so I can watch her all night.

The party should be nice, they always tend to throw HUGE fancy parties, just wish it was on Saturday.

      Miss you!!! oxoxo
